Junior Embedded information

What is a junior embedded?

Junior Embedded Engineers are entry-level professionals who design, develop, and maintain embedded systems—specialized computing systems that perform dedicated functions within larger mechanical or electrical systems. They typically work with microcontrollers, real-time operating systems, and hardware interfaces to ensure devices like automotive systems, medical instruments, or consumer electronics function reliably. Junior Embedded Engineers usually support senior engineers, write code in languages such as C or C++, and assist in debugging and testing embedded software. Their role is crucial in integrating hardware and software to create efficient, reliable products.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a junior embedded engineer?

To thrive as a Junior Embedded Engineer, you need a solid understanding of embedded systems, C/C++ programming, and basic electronics, often backed by a degree in electrical engineering or computer science. Familiarity with microcontrollers, debugging tools, and version control systems like Git is typically required. Problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective teamwork are crucial soft skills for this role. These competencies enable the development, testing, and optimization of reliable embedded solutions in collaborative engineering environments.

What are some typical challenges a junior embedded engineer may face when starting in this role?

As a Junior Embedded Engineer, you may find it challenging to work with complex hardware-software integration, particularly if you are new to debugging low-level code or working with unfamiliar microcontrollers. Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams—such as hardware engineers, firmware developers, and QA testers—also requires strong communication skills and adaptability. Additionally, learning to use specialized development tools and managing strict project timelines are common hurdles, but these challenges also provide valuable learning opportunities and help you build a solid foundation for career advancement.

Job description

Title: Robotics Software Engineer 1 (Junior)
Description
Auzmor is redefining workforce training by seamlessly integrating human and robotic skill development to empower the hybrid workforce of tomorrow. As a Robotics & AI Research Engineer in our Robotics Division, you will lead pioneering research to enhance robotic capabilities through advanced artificial intelligence, focusing on areas such as autonomous decision-making, object recognition, and natural language processing for human-robot interaction. You will develop state-of-the-art machine learning models, reinforcement learning algorithms, and computer vision solutions to drive Auzmor's end-to-end hybrid workforce training platform. Collaborating with robotics software, simulation, and compliance teams, you will create AI-driven training modules, proprietary algorithms, and skill development tools, ensuring robust integration with robotic systems for applications in manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare.
This role is essential to achieving Auzmor's mission of delivering 25% improvement in human-robot efficiency, addressing the 35% skills gap in human-robot collaboration, and maintaining a 2-3 year lead in the $45B robotic training market by 2028, growing to $100B by 2030.
Key Responsibilities
System Architecture: Design and architect scalable, robust software systems in Python, C++, and ROS 2 for robotic autonomy, perception, and control, ensuring integration with Auzmor's hybrid training platform.
Perception and Autonomy Leadership: Oversee the development of advanced perception systems, leveraging computer vision (e.g., OpenCV), sensor fusion, and neural policies for complex tasks like dynamic grasping or patient assistance.
Skill Creation Strategy: Lead the development of no-code Task Creator UI and behavior tree frameworks, enabling enterprise clients to create task-specific skills for deterministic and adaptive applications.
Simulation and Validation: Architect simulation pipelines in NVIDIA Isaac Sim, achieving 95% task success and 0.1% collision rates; lead real-world validation for pilot deployments with enterprise clients.
Fleet Monitoring and Retraining: Design and implement real-time telemetry and anomaly detection systems using AWS IoT Greengrass, addressing 5% failure rates and enabling continuous learning for neural policies and behavior trees.
Compliance Leadership: Ensure software meets OSHA, EU AI Act, and ISO 10218 standards, driving digital badge generation and audit-ready compliance records for global regulations.
Team Leadership: Mentor mid-level and junior engineers, lead cross-functional teams (AI, simulation, compliance), and drive technical strategy for robotic training pilots and full-scale deployments.
Strategic Collaboration: Work with enterprise clients and partners (e.g., NVIDIA, AWS) to customize solutions, align with pilot feedback, and scale to fleets of 100+ robots.
Innovation: Contribute to R&D initiatives, exploring new algorithms, neural policies, or reinforcement learning techniques to maintain Auzmor's 2-3 year lead in hybrid training.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
• 8+ years of experience in robotics software development, with a focus on system architecture, autonomy, or perception.
• Extensive expertise in Python, C++, and ROS 2; deep proficiency with OpenCV, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Proven track record of leading complex robotics projects, including real-time systems, embedded software, and large-scale sensor integration.
• Experience with simulation platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo) and IoT frameworks (e.g., AWS IoT Greengrass) is required.
Technical Skills:
• Expert knowledge of algorithms for navigation, path planning, and human-robot interaction.
• Deep experience with behavior trees, neural policies, and reinforcement learning for robotic applications.
• Ability to architect scalable systems for fleets of 100+ robots, ensuring reliability and compliance.
Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills to guide teams, influence stakeholders, and collaborate with enterprise clients.
Preferred: Experience in manufacturing, logistics, or healthcare robotics; expertise in compliance standards (OSHA, EU AI Act, ISO 10218); prior leadership in robotic training or fleet management projects.
Why Needed
The Senior Robotics Software Engineer is a linchpin for Auzmor's Robotics Division, driving the architectural and strategic foundation of our hybrid workforce training platform. This role is essential for Phase 2 (2025) milestones, including 5 robotic training pilots with $500K revenue, and Phase 3 (2026) goals of neural policy integration, anomaly detection, and $2M ARR with 15 clients. By addressing the 35% skills gap, ensuring 99% fleet uptime, and leading compliance efforts, this position positions Auzmor to dominate the $45B robotic training market by 2028 and grow to $100B by 2030.
Why Auzmor?
Impact: Be part of a 2-3 year lead in hybrid workforce training, working with 100+ enterprise clients, including Fortune 500 companies.
Innovation: Leverage Auzmor's 6-year AI/ML stack, ROS 2-compatible platform, and partnerships with NVIDIA and AWS to build state-of-the-art robotics solutions.
Growth: Join a team targeting $18M ARR in 2025 and $27.2M by 2028, with opportunities to shape a rapidly expanding industry.
Culture: Collaborate with a dream team, including our CPO and VP of Robotics, in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
