What You'll Do:
As the Junior Editor, you will be responsible for running, maintaining, and improving a suite of editorial tools that are crucial in maintaining the high standards of the novels we publish. Your primary responsibilities will be to run editing tools on manuscripts and to review manuscripts to ensure they meet our quality criteria.
We're looking for someone with a really strong mix of editorial sensibilities and technical know-how, someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and be responsible for making sure that manuscripts are beautifully polished. And, of course, having a passion for fiction is also essential - bonus points if you're a writer/reader of romance!
This is a new and somewhat experimental role, so in addition to traditional editorial skills and quantitative reasoning abilities, adaptability, flexibility, and being proactive will be particularly helpful.
Responsibilities:
  • Run editing tools on incoming book manuscripts and review manuscripts to ensure quality output.
  • Collaborate with the Content Team to support overall editorial processes.
  • Provide detailed feedback and suggestions for improvements to editing tools.
  • Ability to perform quick-turnaround copyedits, line edits, proofreading, and beta-reading as needed.

What You'll Bring:
Requirements:
  • Location: Remote; ability to make meetings on San Francisco hours
  • Language: Native English speaker
  • Experience: 3 years professional editing experience. 1 year of experience in editing fiction.
  • Skills: Excellent copyediting skills. Basic understanding of quantitative reasoning.
  • Interests: Keen interest in utilizing AI to assist in editorial processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Genre Knowledge: Familiarity with Romance and its subgenres, especially Paranormal Romance, Contemporary, and Erotica.
  • Tech Savvy: Familiarity with AI models, and excitement about using AI and exploring new implementations and uses with it.
  • Bonus Living in or near to San Francisco
