Job description

DELIVERING SOLUTIONS IS WHAT WE DO. It’s our heritage and our future. Because we don’t just engineer. We build innovative solutions that drive progress, ensure safety, and shape the world around us.

MECO Engineering is at its best when every member of our team feels respected, included, and empowered—when everyone can show up as themselves and do their best work every day. We are a multi-disciplined firm specializing in civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering, as well as land surveying services. Since 1985, we have been assisting rural communities and water districts in meeting their public works needs. Our team-based problem-solving approach, combined with decades of experience, allows us to deliver uniquely creative solutions to today’s complex regulatory and funding challenges. Our projects, spanning from wastewater systems to transportation infrastructure, are a testament to our dedication to quality and innovation.

About the Role

MECO is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Jefferson City office. This role is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership position that involves managing both projects and the office. We are looking for a highly skilled and tenured civil engineer, preferably a Professional Engineer (PE), who can manage a diverse range of civil engineering projects and transition into an office management role over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Oversee and manage various civil engineering projects, including site civil, water and wastewater, hydrology, transportation, and storm water.
  • Office Management: Lead the Jefferson City office, guiding staff and ensuring efficient operations.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide expert guidance on general civil engineering topics and deliver high-quality project outcomes.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring project success and customer satisfaction.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Operational Oversight: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the office, with a focus on continuous improvement and strategic growth.
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a strong track record in project management.
  • Extensive knowledge of civil engineering disciplines including site civil, water/wastewater, hydrology, transportation, and/or storm water management.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams and projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, staff, and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Compensation

  • This position offers a salary range of $100,000–$150,000 per year, along with bonus potential, comprehensive health benefits, PTO, and holiday pay.
  • The listed salary range reflects the potential compensation for this role. Starting pay will be based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
