Job description

Summary Description
At Certegy, we're changing the payments landscape by providing faster, more efficient ways to securely connect retailers and consumers. Our technology supports both traditional and modern methods for merchants to accept and verify payments-powering check verification and warranty services, ACH payment solutions, and risk management expertise for clients ranging from local businesses to the largest retailers in America.
We're seeking a DevOps Engineer who is a hands-on technology professional comfortable working in a multi-cloud, primarily AWS environment. In this role, you will build, deploy, and operate applications and cloud infrastructure on AWS, with a strong focus on automation, scalability, reliability, and security. You'll partner closely with engineering, product, security, and operations teams to support the platform that powers Certegy's business-critical systems.
This role is on-site only in our Florida or Texas office locations.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Build, deploy, and maintain new versions of applications and event-driven services in AWS.
  • Develop and maintain automated infrastructure-as-code and deployment pipelines.
  • Define and implement governance policies and procedures for running workloads in AWS.
  • Design reusable components and patterns for provisioning cloud resources in alignment with governance and security standards.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to align established standards and procedures with DevOps techniques and best practices.
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews.
  • Drive scope, planning, and estimation discussions; track progress and provide regular updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Partner with engineering, security, and product teams to improve availability, scalability, performance, and efficiency.
  • Build tools and automation to eliminate repetitive tasks, reduce downtime, and improve operational consistency.
  • Set up and manage AWS environments, including components such as load balancers, compute, and managed databases.
  • Write and maintain Terraform code to provision infrastructure and implement secure cloud solutions within AWS.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with team members to drive resolution, minimizing customer impact.
  • Drive process improvements and automation enhancements to continuously improve environments.
  • Create infrastructure recommendations with cost/benefit analyses.
  • Produce and maintain project infrastructure documentation, including runbooks and disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitor environment health and system performance; contribute to incident response and post-incident improvements.

Skills & Specifications
  • Experience automating software deployments and operating within a continuous delivery model.
  • Experience developing and supporting CI/CD using tools such as Jenkins (or equivalent).
  • Experience designing, building, and supporting highly available production systems in AWS using services such as ELB/ALB, EC2, ECS, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, S3, IAM, Route 53, and DynamoDB.
  • Experience with source control and branching strategies (e.g., Git, GitHub, GitFlow).
  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, EFS, RDS, and Route 53.
  • Experience developing and provisioning infrastructure as code using Terraform; familiarity with tools such as Ansible and Packer is a plus.
  • Proficiency with monitoring/observability and log aggregation tools (e.g., New Relic, CloudWatch, Datadog, Sumo Logic, ELK).
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve time-sensitive, critical production issues.
  • Experience operating common middleware and web stacks (e.g., Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, JBoss).
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols (e.g., DNS, DHCP, SSH, HTTP, TCP/IP).
  • Experience with containerized workloads and AWS container services such as ECS; familiarity with other orchestration platforms is a plus.
  • Experience writing and maintaining configuration in YAML and/or JSON.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with cross-functional global and remote teams.

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience building and supporting large-scale, business-critical systems across the software delivery lifecycle (build, test, release, operate).
