IAV is currently seeking a highly motivated Junior Body Electronics Design Engineer. You will be responsible to support the design, development, validation, and launch of body electronics modules, sensors, and actuators for EV pickup trucks and rugged SUVs. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this role contributes to product development activities while gaining experience across all phases of the engineering lifecycle.

Essential Responsibilities & Activities:

    • Support the electrical hardware design and development of body electronics modules, sensors, and actuators.
    • Assist with component development from concept through testing, validation, and production launch.
    • Create and maintain engineering documentation, technical specifications, and design records.
    • Collaborate with Purchasing and Finance teams to support sourcing activities and supplier quotations.
    • Work with Tier 1 suppliers and internal engineering teams to support component development and release activities.
    • Participate in virtual and physical verification testing, including vehicle and field testing.
    • Analyze test data and support troubleshooting and root cause investigations.
    • Assist with DFMEA, ISO 26262 Functional Safety activities, WCCA, and design reviews.
    • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and regulations.
    • Support manufacturing launches, prototype builds, and production readiness activities.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and customer-focused product enhancements.
    • Build effective working relationships across engineering, supplier, and cross-functional teams.
    • Support a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture and team members as needed.
    • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience in automotive body electronics, body electrical systems, or electromechanical engineering.
    • Experience supporting design, testing, validation, and launch activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
    • Knowledge of body control modules, sensors, actuators, and vehicle electrical systems.
    • Familiarity with DFMEA, ISO 26262, WCCA, and automotive development processes.
    • Familiarity with CAE tools and engineering analysis methods.
    • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience applying Six Sigma principles and structured engineering methodologies.
    • Knowledge of U.S. automotive safety and regulatory requirements.
    • Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
    • Positive attitude, growth mindset, integrity, curiosity, and resourcefulness.
    • Experience with electric vehicle (EV) systems.
    • Knowledge of vehicle electrical/electronic architectures.
    • German language proficiency preferred.
    • Strong proficiency with verbal and written communication skills, analytical problem solving, and creativity.
    • Willingness to travel, as needed
