Position Purpose
RLI is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer (.NET Full Stack) with 8-10 years of professional software development experience to join our Software Engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and support modern enterprise applications using the Microsoft technology stack while helping advance RLI's digital transformation initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a strong full-stack engineer with experience building scalable, cloud-ready applications using .NET, Blazor, RESTful APIs, and microservices. You will collaborate with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and fellow engineers to deliver secure, high-quality software that supports critical insurance business capabilities.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications using C# and the Microsoft .NET platform.
  • Build responsive, modern web applications using Blazor, Razor, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Develop secure, scalable RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Design and implement microservices that support distributed, event-driven applications.
  • Develop data access solutions using MongoDB and SQL Server.
  • Implement asynchronous messaging and event streaming using Kafka.
  • Participate in solution architecture, technical design, and code reviews.
  • Build and maintain automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA engineers, and business stakeholders within Agile delivery teams.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Follow engineering best practices for coding standards, testing, source control, documentation, and secure software development.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar technologies) to improve software design, development, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, or AI orchestration frameworks.
  • Evaluate and implement AI-enabled capabilities within enterprise applications where they provide measurable business value.
  • Apply secure and responsible AI development practices while protecting sensitive business and customer information.
  • Stay current with emerging AI technologies and recommend opportunities to improve engineering productivity and software quality.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8-10 years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong experience developing enterprise applications using C# and .NET.
  • Experience developing modern web applications using:

    • Razor
    • HTML5
    • CSS3

  • Experience working with:

Compensation Overview
The base salary range for the position is listed below. Please note that the base salary is only one component of our robust total rewards package at RLI. The salary offered will take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications/credentials, talent availability & specialization, as well as business needs. The below range may be modified in the future.

$96,264.00 - $137,657.00
