Help bring the voices of Cosmopolitan and Seventeen to life across the platforms where their audiences spend their time. As a Temporary Junior Designer, you'll combine creativity, strong visual instincts, and an understanding of social media to create engaging work for two iconic brands.

Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

  • Create compelling social media assets-including graphics, animations, and video content-that support the editorial strategies and distinct brand identities of Cosmopolitan and Seventeen.
  • Collaborate closely with editorial and social teams to translate ideas, stories, and cultural moments into engaging visual content.
  • Design digital assets for Cosmopolitan.com, including lead images for key stories and other editorial needs.
  • Partner with the video editor on post-production tasks to support an efficient, seamless workflow for video content.
  • Develop creative assets for special events and promotions while maintaining a cohesive and recognizable brand identity.
  • Manage multiple assignments and deadlines effectively in a fast-moving social and editorial environment.
  • Apply current design trends, platform best practices, and social specifications while maintaining the visual standards of Cosmopolitan and Seventeen.
  • Maintain a high level of creativity and attention to detail while following established processes and workflows.


Qualifications (What We're Looking For)

  • 1+ years of experience in graphic design, digital design, social content creation, or a related area; relevant internships, freelance work, and equivalent experience are welcome.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating creative design work, with particular strength in social media graphics, digital content, and/or animation.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and the ability to efficiently produce polished digital creative.
  • Solid understanding of major social media platforms, including their visual requirements, dimensions, and creative best practices.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize assignments and meet tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative communication skills and an enthusiasm for partnering with editorial, social, video, and other creative teammates.
  • A keen eye for detail, strong visual instincts, and curiosity about evolving design and social media trends.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is preferred but not required.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach and an eagerness to learn and take on new creative challenges.
  • This temporary position is based at Hearst Tower in New York City and requires working in the office 4 days per week, initially totaling 30 hours per week.

The base pay rate for this role is $30 per hour. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
