Business Intelligence Developer Senior

Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 1-2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Ideal candidates will be able to report to one of our Pulse Point locations in Richmond, VA, Grand Prairie, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Tampa, FL, St. Louis, MO, or Atlanta, GA. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

The Business Intelligence Developer Senior is responsible for participating in all phases of the design and development life cycle of analytic applications and reporting tools, utilizing various BI technology platforms.

  • Maintains active relationships with customers to determine business requirements.

  • Anticipates opportunities for improvement and identifies alternate solutions.

  • Collaborates with engineers for creative ideas for Web portals supporting interactive content, analyzes and classifies complex change request and reviews and evaluates possible enhancements.

  • Works with development team to develop and define application scope and objectives and prepare functional and/or technical specifications.

  • Analyzes and evaluates detailed business and technical requirements.

  • Codes and maintains complex components of information systems.

  • Mentors others on coding standards and performs code reviews.

  • Develops and performs system testing and fixes defects identified during testing and re-executes unit tests to validate results.

  • Aids in integrating activities with other IT departments for successful implementation and support of project efforts.

  • Provides timely support to data information planning effort.

  • Maintains technical development environment and has responsibility for implementation plan.

  • Assists in developing training documentation including proactive identification of additional needs and enhancements.

  • Manages small projects, mentors and provides training to others.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert for one or more Business Intelligence applications.

  • Establishes connectivity to operations source systems and data repositories.

  • Conducts data discovery work to understand strengths, limitations, and opportunities within the currently available data.

  • Develops strategic report applications from the data warehouse, using structured query language (SQL) to extract relevant sets of data.

  • Establishes and maintains excellent knowledge of data warehouse database design, data definitions, and data integrity issues.

  • Works as part of a cross-functional team of database developers, data analysts, project managers, program managers, IT engineers, and external partners to create solutions to meet contracted data requirements.

  • Assists with performance-tuning of existing SQL queries to ensure completion of business-essential processes in accordance with established partner service-level-agreements.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 3 years' experience on one platform, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Experience with multiple Business Intelligence tools, multi database, multi-language or multi business application preferred highly preferred.

  • Familiarity with Amazon RedShift, Snowflake, Postgres, Microsoft SQL Server, or equivalent database software highly preferred.

  • Experience leading people, small projects and provide troubleshooting support highly preferred.

  • Experience presenting technical subject matters to non-technical audiences highly preferred.

  • Experience in navigating new data models (both documented and undocumented) highly preferred.

  • Ability to learn new subject matter and document effectively for broader team knowledge/use highly preferred.

  • Professionalism, positivity, and being solution-oriented in communications and collaborations inside and outside of the team highly preferred.

  • Ability to toggle effectively between several concurrent projects preferred.

  • Proficiency in presenting team's work in various forums preferred.

  • Ability to train and mentor junior team members in advanced SQL query-writing and team standard operating procedures preferred.

  • Familiarity with operations (pharmacy, drug production, contact center, manufacturing, etc.) preferred.

  • Familiarity with ETL coding via Python, or ETL software such as Microsoft SSIS (or equivalent) preferred.

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $101,600 to $152,400.
