Job description

Job Description Under established procedures and FHLBank risk management policies and FHFA regulations, this role analyzes and reviews the creditworthiness of current and prospective unsecured counterparties and vendors. The position also monitors secured and other counterparties to ensure exposures remain within the Bank’s risk appetite, identifies adverse financial trends, and supports recommendations on credit line actions when needed. In addition, this role oversees maintenance of the FHLBank trade and entity database. In this Role you will Analyze the creditworthiness of existing and prospective unsecured counterparties, including preparing internal rating reviews and monitoring market developments impacting investment and derivative exposures. Assess other counterparties, including insurance companies, settlement brokers, securities dealers, and repurchase counterparties subject to FINRA Rule 4210. Oversee timely completion of vendor financial reviews in support of the Vendor Risk Management Program, including evaluating significant vendors whose failure could disrupt operations. Maintain counterparty credit ratings, capital, and exposure limits in FLAMES, and coordinate with Capital Markets and IT on system maintenance and enhancements. Calculate credit exposure impacts related to prospective investment strategies and new business activities. Identify opportunities to improve, streamline, and automate manual processes and procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business.
  • Five or more years of related experience.
  • Strong experience conducting financial analysis of large financial institutions and brokers/dealers.
  • Solid understanding of banking, securities, and core accounting principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Cognos or similar reporting tools.
  • Experience with Python, querying methods, data mining/data analytics, and Power BI or similar visualization tools.
  • Ability to work and travel independently.

  • Advanced degree.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of capital markets and investment product characteristics.
