What we're looking for:
Nexamp is seeking to hire a Junior Control Room Operator to join it's 24/7 Operations Center in Lawrence, MA. In this role, you will be responsible for the real-time monitoring and basic remote operations of Nexamp's fleet of distributed solar and battery energy storage assets to ensure safe, reliable and optimized performance 365 days a year. You will identify and triage alarms and events, execute standard troubleshooting protocols and escalate issues to the appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
This role is a full time, expected to work 40 hours throughout the week, including weekends & holidays. You will be expected to work a 8 hour shift between the hours of 6am-10pm ET, which will be determined upon hire.This role is full time out of our Lawrence, MA Operations Center. You will report to the Manager, Operations Center.
What you'll do:
  • Monitor daily production and operational status of our solar and battery energy storage systems using Nexamp monitoring tools and standard operation procedures (SOPs).
  • Review, acknowledge, analyze, and prioritize alarms and alerts, ensuring timely response to critical events and appropriate escalation to field service, engineering, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform basic remote troubleshooting and control actions within defined SOPs, including independently monitoring and operating assets, and document actions taken in the monitoring and fleet management systems.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, utilities, equipment manufacturers, field technicians, and internal Nexamp teams via phone, email, and ticketing/monitoring platforms to coordinate safe and efficient issue resolution.
  • Manage and triage the operations email inbox, including alarms, site notifications, and vendor communications, routing and escalating messages based on SOPs and operational priorities.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of outages, events, and resolutions in Nexamp's monitoring and fleet management tools to support reporting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Continuously seek to optimize monitoring practices, alarm configurations, and SOPs in collaboration with team members to enhance safety, responsiveness, and asset performance.
  • Occasionally will be required to work OT to support the needs of the Nexamp Operations Center

What you'll bring:
  • 0-2 years of related experience in a technical, operations, control room, utility, or similar environment.
  • Basic knowledge of electricity/electrical terms (voltage, current, power, energy) a plus
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week including weekends and holidays
  • High school diploma, prefer some post high school education, vocational or tech school.
  • Ability to understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Responds to alarms and events with a solution-oriented, service-first mindset, prioritizing safety, uptime, and contractual obligations.
  • Escalates issues appropriately and provides accurate, timely updates to stakeholders.
  • Uses SOPs, monitoring tools, and basic electrical knowledge to diagnose issues, perform basic remote troubleshooting, and recommend next steps.
  • Maintains detailed records that support root cause analysis and process improvements.
  • Comfortable working through repetitive tasks with great attention to detail
  • Computer knowledge and competency with Microsoft Office tools including Word and Excel

Compensation
The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Nexamp ranges from $24/hour - $30/hour. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual bonus programs based on individual and company performance, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in the Company's stock option plan. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but is not limited to, skills and qualifications, internal equity, performance, and geographic location.
