About Alloy

Alloy is an integrated marketing agency. We specialize in helping brands across the full funnel, from designing and developing digital solutions and brands that inspire, to creating complete communication offerings and performance marketing campaigns. Our cross-channel solutions help innovative brands engage with their buyers, shape public opinion, build lasting influence, create new categories, and accelerate growth and market share.

Behind it all is a group of nerds, rebels and creatives. We’ve been called a Best Place to Work (10 times and counting, to be exact). And we’re growing this Uncommon Crew.

 About the Role

The Public Relations (PR) Director reports directly to the VP of Organic Growth and Authority. As the PR Director, you will conceptualize, present and implement strategic PR programs that encompass various initiatives which may include: proactive media relations, awards, speaking, event support, content development, crisis communications, social media and influencer relations. These programs must be consistent, thoughtful and support the client’s overarching marketing objectives and business goals. You will play an integral role in leading account-specific PR teams and ensuring that supporting team members are well-versed in the client’s PR strategy and have a clear understanding of their role in driving results and successes.

In this role, you will also manage and inspire two junior PR practitioners as direct reports, encouraging them to deliver high-caliber and thoughtful work across various accounts. Additionally, you will work closely with these team members to help them progress on their growth path; identifying areas of opportunity and improvement.

You will also contribute ideas and develop opportunities to help further the PR practice area at Alloy. To excel in this role, you must possess a forward-thinking mindset regarding the impact of AI on public relations, proactively identifying how AI-driven tools shape modern media relations, content efficiency, and data analysis. Furthermore, you will serve as a bridge between PR and other agency disciplines, working closely with the VP of Organic Growth and Authority, Department Strategists and Client Partnership team members to orchestrate integrated strategies alongside organic search, social, paid media, and creative teams to drive cohesive, cross-channel success for our clients.

  • Gain a deep understanding of Alloy PR solutions and evolving marketing trends. Proactively research and collaborate with departments to build marketing strategies.
  • Manage and develop junior PR team members utilizing Alloy’s virtues, tools and training.
  • Be a subject matter expert! Department SMEs are an important part of driving client outcomes and winning new business for the agency.
  • Based on a client’s goals, provide counsel and/or execute deliverables such as:
  • PR Strategy
  • Media Messaging and Pitch Topic Development
  • Target Media Audiences
  • Proactive Media Outreach and Newsjacking
  • Speaking, Awards and Event Support Programs/Opportunities
  • Cross-Functional Strategy: Partner closely with Organic Social and Organic Search (SEO) teams to ensure a unified brand voice and maximize overall organic visibility and engagement.
  • Integrated Campaigns: Collaborate with Paid Media and Creative teams to build, test, and optimize high-performing, multi-channel campaigns that align with broader business goals.

Skillset Needed:
  • You’re authentic, bold, passionately curious, accountable, radically candid and agile.
  • Experience mentoring and leading junior team members; including managing direct reports on their professional development and growth paths.
  • Demonstrated experience building PR program for B2B clients (preferably technology)
  • B2B agency experience
  • Strong understanding of the impact of AI and AI search on the PR discipline, as well as how AI search impacts a brand’s overall visibility
  • Strong experience crafting and executing public relations campaigns with excellent results; leading account-specific PR teams and client planning sessions and communicating with client stakeholders.
  • Display powerful presentation skills that invite participation and effect desired outcomes.
  • Ability to autonomously lead PR team members and build strong rapport with clients, and deliver high quality work with minimal oversight.
  • Existing relationships with national and trade media/publications/reporters.
  • Deeply understands clients’ businesses at both strategic and tactical levels and delivers PR-specific counsel rooted in business context, trends and data.
  • You are familiar with PR and project management software such as Meltwater (or similar wire distribution and media monitoring software), Kantata (or similar time tracking software) and Jira (or similar project management software).
