Job description

The Principal Architect, Supply Chain Technology is a strategic technical leadership role responsible for defining and driving the architecture of Fanatics Commerce's supply chain systems. Reporting to the VP, Architecture, this position will shape the technical vision for supply chain operations across order management, inventory, fulfillment, and logistics. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in supply chain technology, enterprise integration patterns, and modern distributed systems, with a proven track record of transforming complex legacy environments into scalable, composable architectures. 

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Define and own the technical architecture roadmap for supply chain systems, including order management, inventory management, warehouse management, logistics/transportation, and planning systems
  • Lead the strategic transition from legacy supply chain systems to a composable supply chain architecture using best-of-breed solutions
  • Partner with product management and business stakeholders across direct-to-consumer, wholesale, operations, fulfillment and manufacturing to understand supply chain requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Design integration patterns for supply chain and related systems, ensuring seamless data flow between internal and external systems and partners 
  • Support evaluation and selection of supply chain technology vendors and platforms
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation including system diagrams, data models, integration specifications, and decision records
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure architectural standards are followed and provide technical guidance during implementation
  • Drive adoption of modern architecture practices including event-driven architecture, microservices, and cloud-native patterns within supply chain domains
  • Identify and architect opportunities to apply AI/ML capabilities to supply chain challenges. Define orchestration integration patterns for AI agents and automation
  • Support One Commerce strategic initiatives by ensuring supply chain systems align with enterprise-wide architecture goals 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise software architecture with significant focus on supply chain systems
  • Deep expertise in supply chain domains: order management, inventory management, warehouse management, planning, and transportation/logistics, preferably supporting both direct-to-consumer and wholesale businesses
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, D365, SAP) and modern supply chain platforms (warehouse management systems, material handling and warehouse execution systems, robotics and automation, shopfloor/manufacturing systems, planning platforms)
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise integration solutions using APIs, EDI, and event-driven architectures
  • Strong cloud architecture skills, especially AWS, with experience in data platforms and analytics
  • Experience leading complex ERP migration or modernization initiatives
  • Experience architecting solutions that incorporate AI/ML components. Familiarity with agent orchestration patterns and understanding of how generative AI can be applied to the supply chain domain
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to present technical concepts to executive stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Experience in retail, ecommerce, or consumer goods industries strongly preferred, ideally supporting both direct-to-consumer and wholesale channels
