Sentar is seeking a Jr. Network Engineer in Huntsville, AL!

Role Description:

The ideal candidate will provide technical engineering support for our large federal government agency’s highly complex network infrastructure environment to include multiple enclaves comprising various classification levels.

This position is based onsite in Huntsville, AL, with travel to customer locations (up to 50% travel) to cable and install networking devices. The Junior Network Engineer will also be responsible for assisting senior engineers at the main customer site with deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting network infrastructure and hardware.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather user network requirements utilizing multiple methodologies to provide necessary technical documentation, system requirement documents, systems security requirements documents, and system test plans.
  • Travel to various customer locations to install networking equipment
  • Assist Senior Engineers with deploying network infrastructure.
  • Install, maintain and evaluate network systems and communications systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues involving various protocols, topologies, networking hardware, etc.
  • Utilize knowledge of internetworking, computer systems, routers, switches, firewalls, and peripherals to enhance understanding of current network designs and to collaborate with other team members
  • Work independently and collectively to help improve network solutions and contribute to network service improvements.

Qualifications:

Clearance Level: Active Top-Secret Clearance Required; must be SCI-eligible. A Counter-Intelligence Polygraph is required post-start.

Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification

Education: Bachelor's degree Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing network solutions.
  • Experience racking, stacking, and cabling network devices.
  • Experience interfacing directly with customers and addressing customer needs.
  • Experience with basic configuration of switches and routers.
  • Experience configuring from the CLI.
  • Experience with IT Ticketing systems (Jira, ServiceNow, etc.).
  • Experience providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting support.
  • Experience working in both classified and unclassified network environments.
