Job description

Job Title: Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (AWS)

Location: Austin, TX - must be local and able to be onsite 1-2 days per week

Duration: 6 month contract-to-hire

Compensation: $75-$95/HR

Work schedule: Monday-Friday (8 AM-5PM CST) - onsite 1-2x per week

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision and 401(k).

What You’ll Do

  • Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure supporting business-critical applications.
  • Optimize cloud environments for performance, scalability, cost efficiency, security, and availability.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible).
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across cloud infrastructure, networking, and application deployments.
  • Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and compliance standards.
  • Partner with DevOps, engineering, and business teams to deliver scalable cloud solutions.
  • Support cloud-native architectures, including microservices and serverless workloads.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide exceptional service to internal customers.
  • Stay current on AWS technologies and recommend improvements to cloud strategy.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of hands-on AWS cloud infrastructure experience (Azure/GCP experience is a plus).
  • Strong experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, ECS/EKS, Fargate, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience with IaC tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, security best practices, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, NIST, GDPR).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell, C#, or Go).
  • Proven troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently across teams.
  • AWS and IaC certifications highly preferred.
