We are looking for a Junior Technical Project Engineer to join our team in Rotterdam.
 

As a Junior Technical Project Engineer in the Grid Integration division, you will play a pivotal role in the electromechanical design of high-voltage systems across the Netherlands. This position requires you to develop innovative solutions in collaboration with customers, internal teams, and external partners, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Your expertise will be instrumental in advancing our high-voltage switchgear and grid stabilization systems. Your Responsibilities
  • Support the engineering and delivery of high-voltage substations and grid stabilization systems, from tender phase through commissioning and customer handover.

  • Develop and maintain engineering deliverables including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), protection & control schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable routing, grounding systems, and 3D Revit models.

  • Perform engineering calculations and design activities related to protection systems, electromechanical layouts, lightning protection, short-circuit forces, and material dimensioning.

  • Specify and coordinate technical equipment such as protection relays, CTs/VTs, SCADA/RTU systems, auxiliary equipment, and high-voltage substation components.

  • Manage technical interfaces with primary, secondary, civil, telecom, construction, and commissioning disciplines to ensure an integrated and constructable design.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and panel builders, review technical documentation, support FAT/SAT activities, and resolve technical issues during project execution.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable IEC/EN standards, Dutch grid codes, customer requirements, and Hitachi Energy QHSE standards.

  • Engage with customers and project stakeholders, providing technical support, presenting solutions, and contributing to continuous improvement and lessons learned.

Your Background
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • Strong interest in high-voltage substations, protection & control systems, and electromechanical design.

  • Basic knowledge of power system protection, high-voltage technology, electrical design principles, and substation engineering.

  • Familiarity with engineering tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and an interest in BIM and digital engineering methodologies.

  • Knowledge of IEC 61850, protection relays, SCADA systems, FAT/SAT processes, or related technologies is considered an advantage.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a structured and quality-focused mindset.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and international project teams.

  • Fluent in Dutch and English; Willingness to occasionally visit customer sites, suppliers, and construction locations.
