Job Title: โ€ฏJunior Database and Automation Engineer
Clearance Required: DHS Public Trust EOD, US Citizen (Secret Clearance or above preferred)
Work Location: Onsite 2-5 times a week in Arlington, VA and/or Washington, DC (applicant must be based within a commutable distance (1-2 hours) within the DMV) Alpha Omega is looking for a Junior Database and Automation Engineer to join our team supporting one of our government customers. The Junior Database and Automation Engineer will maintain and enhance a portfolio of Power Platform solutions, including Power Apps, Power Automate flows, and Power BI dashboards. The developer will independently deliver routine feature requests, bug fixes, and workflow automations that support day-to-day operational efficiency. This role is ideal for an early-career developer with a go-getter attitude looking to grow within an established technical delivery team, working under the direction of a senior technical lead. Key Responsibilities: โ€ขServe as the primary developer maintaining and enhancing two complex, business-critical Canvas Power Apps, plus additional smaller apps in the portfolio.
โ€ขBuild and modify Canvas app screens, forms, and data connections, delivering routine feature requests, bug fixes, and UI adjustments from the backlog.
โ€ขDevelop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and Workspace Apps tied to the Canvas Apps and other ad-hoc data sources.
โ€ขCreate and maintain automated workflows using Power Automate to support reporting and streamline repetitive tasks.
โ€ขPerform routine access controls, end-user support, and O&M across the application portfolio.
โ€ขClean and integrate data from multiple sources (SQL, Excel, SharePoint, APIs) as needed for applications and reporting.
โ€ขSupport client Systems Engineering Lifecycle (SELC) tasks and maintain technical documentation, including use of deployment pipelines.
โ€ขHandle ad hoc client requests for existing systems, such as data ingest from flat Excel files.
โ€ขCollaborate with functional area teams to translate business requirements into effective Power Platform solutions. Required Experience/Skills: โ€ข2+ years of hands-on experience developing Canvas Power Apps, including complex user interfaces, multiple data sources, and delegation handling.
โ€ข2+ years of experience with Power BI for dashboard development and relational data modeling.
โ€ขExperience building and maintaining Power Automate flows for workflow automation.
โ€ขStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
โ€ขAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
โ€ขAbility to work in a team-oriented environment for a matrixed organization.
โ€ขExperience with Agile and SCRUM processes and methodologies.
โ€ขFamiliarity with Government Processes, including Federal Acquisition & Finance.
โ€ขKnowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) practices, principles, and techniques as they apply to Agile development process.
โ€ขAbility to effectively collaborate with internal and external customers.
โ€ขProven ability to communicate technical details to a non-technical audience.
โ€ขProficiency with data querying and analysis languages (e.g., SQL, M, DAX). Desired Skills: โ€ขBachelorโ€™s degree or relevant experience.
โ€ขKnowledge of SQL Databases and Query creation.
โ€ขKnowledge of the Federal Acquisition Lifecycle or commercial contracting.
โ€ขKnowledge of Federal financial systems or commercial accounting.
โ€ขAbility to develop training materials and conduct end-user training sessions.
โ€ขExperience with Federal government contracting and/or program office organizations business processes.
โ€ขExperience with RPA and AI/ML technologies. Desired Certification(s): โ€ขCertifications that show the desire for learning and continued education (e.g., IBM or Tableau certifications). Required Education:
โ€ขBachelorโ€™s Degree in Business or an IT related field, which can be substituted for technical certifications or relevant experience. Salary and Benefit Information:   The likely salary range for this position is $78,000- $100,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
