Accounting Specialist (Jr. Accountant)

The Accounting Specialist supports the accounting function by performing a combination of accounts receivable duties, general ledger activities, and financial reconciliations. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely reporting. The Accounting Specialist will progressively develop a deeper understanding of accounting processes through hands-on experience, cross-training, and collaboration with the Accountant and Sr Director of Compliance and Revenue Management, gaining exposure to month-end close, variance analysis, and audit support.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Accounts Receivable & Billing Support

      Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and AR transactions.

      Generates and distributes invoices in accordance with company practices.

      Maintains customer account records and resolves discrepancies.

      Monitors aging reports and follows up on past-due accounts.

      Assists with monthly billing and revenue reconciliation processes.

General Accounting & Reconciliations

      Performs monthly balance sheet account reconciliations

      Assists in preparing and posting journal entries with supporting documentation.

      Supports the monthly close process.

      Reconciles general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.

      Investigates and resolves variances or discrepancies in financial data.

      Assists in the preparation of internal financial reports and supporting schedules.

      Creates and updates reports on account status and financial activity.

      Supports audit requests and ensures proper documentation and record retention.

      Maintains organized financial records and filing systems.

      Communicates updates and financial information to relevant stakeholders.

Collaboration & Development

      Works closely with the Staff Accountant to understand broader accounting functions.

      Gains exposure to financial statement preparation and review processes.

      May assist with duties typically performed by the Staff Accountant during peak periods.

      Participates in cross-training opportunities to obtain a full scope of the accounting cycle

Administrative & Operational Support

      Attends required meetings and training sessions.



Education and Experience, Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

      Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

      1-3 years of accounting or accounts receivable experience preferred.
