Jr Software Test Engineer Jobs in Suitland, MD (NOW HIRING)

The Software Test Engineer will be responsible for designing tests, including developing operational scenarios based on technical requirements and design packages. The role involves creating well-written software integration and acceptance test plans and procedures, ensuring clear objectives and traceability to requirements. The engineer will integrate software components and maintain the test environment laboratory, utilizing test simulation and analysis tools.

• Conduct formal integration and system-level testing, including Factory Acceptance Testing, to meet contractual obligations.
• Verify functional and performance requirements in a production-like test environment using various simulation test tools.
• Validate installation procedures and user documentation to ensure seamless integration into a high-availability system environment.
• Identify and report bugs and issues during integration and test activities.
• Prepare comprehensive test reports for stakeholder review and participate in project closure activities.

• Proficiency in test design and test case design.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Linux, and documentation.
• STEM degree with 4+ years of relevant experience in software testing, system testing, or related fields.
• Experience in software and system testing on code, performance, and system-level.
• Ability to read system requirements, develop test plans, execute tests, and document results.
• Familiarity with JMS, IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, or other messaging software.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Ansible for automating testing procedures.

• Experience with GUIs.
• Knowledge of containerized application deployments.
• Experience with DevSecOps and leveraging existing unit tests to build software test documents.
• Technical domain knowledge in the aviation community.
• Analytical mindset with experience in technical writing and collaboration across engineering teams and external customers.

The position requires working four days a week onsite in a partially lab environment. The role involves engaging with an international organization, working in a high-availability, real-time system environment, and handling multiple diverse projects simultaneously.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Annapolis, MD.

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
