Job description

Job Title: ServiceNow QA/Test Engineer
Location: Columbus, OH (Onsite 5 days/week)
Role Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented ServiceNow QA/Test Engineer to lead the quality assurance and testing efforts for a large-scale public sector ServiceNow platform. This role ensures that all platform enhancements, upgrades, and custom applications are defect-free and compliant with rigorous government security standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end testing lifecycle, from creating comprehensive test plans to executing automated and manual tests within a FedRAMP-authorized environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Test Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases tailored for ServiceNow modules (ITSM, ITOM, CSM, etc.).
  • Automated Testing (ATF): Design, build, and maintain automated test suites using the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) to ensure regression testing is efficient and thorough.
  • Functional & Regression Testing: Conduct rigorous manual functional testing of new features and thorough regression testing during platform upgrades and patch cycles.
  • Security & Compliance Validation: Verify that all platform configurations adhere to specified security controls and data privacy requirements consistent with FedRAMP standards.
  • Defect Management: Identify, document, and track software defects to resolution. Work closely with the Development and Architecture teams to perform root cause analysis.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Support: Assist the Business Analyst in preparing UAT scripts and provide technical support to government stakeholders during the testing phase.
  • Performance Testing: Monitor platform performance during load testing to ensure the environment remains responsive under enterprise-scale usage.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience: 4+ years of dedicated Software Quality Assurance experience, with at least 2 years focused specifically on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Technical Mastery of ATF: Proven experience implementing and managing the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF).
  • Testing Methodologies: Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Tools: Experience with defect tracking tools (Jira, ServiceNow Agile/Test Management) and automated testing tools (Selenium, etc., is a plus).
  • Onsite Commitment: Ability to work onsite in Columbus, OH, 5 days a week.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Public Sector Experience: Prior experience testing systems within a state, local, or federal government framework.
  • Security Mindset: Knowledge of accessibility standards (Section 508 compliance) and security testing protocols.
  • Certifications: ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and/or ISTQB Certified Tester.
