Job description

Mobile Heavy Equipment & Diesel Technician — Midland, TX | Transwest Mobile Truck Repair

About the Role

Transwest Mobile Truck Repair is expanding our Midland operation and looking for experienced Mobile Heavy Equipment & Diesel Technicians to support customers throughout the Permian Basin. This is not an entry-level role — we need technicians who can work independently, diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues, and represent our company professionally in the field.

You'll travel directly to customer locations performing diagnostics, repairs, preventive maintenance, and emergency service on heavy-duty diesel engines, heavy trucks, fleet vehicles, and industrial/oilfield support equipment.

We're open to both local Midland-based candidates and non-local candidates willing to work a rotational schedule — see Schedule below for details.

Schedule

  • Local Midland Technicians: Home daily, company service truck provided

  • Non-Local Technicians: 14 days on / 7 days off rotation, with man camp accommodations, meals, and a company service truck provided while on rotation

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, and electrical/multiplex systems
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems
  • Perform suspension, steering, brake, cooling, fuel, DEF, emissions, and HVAC repairs
  • Repair heavy-duty trucks, fleet vehicles, and industrial equipment
  • Repair and service frac pumps, drilling equipment, oilfield support equipment, and other industrial machinery as needed
  • Use OEM and aftermarket diagnostic software to find root causes — not just swap parts
  • Complete preventive maintenance and accurately document all diagnostics and repairs
  • Source parts and communicate requirements efficiently
  • Maintain a clean, organized mobile work environment and provide excellent customer service

Compensation & Benefits

  • Company service truck and fuel provided
  • Company uniforms
  • Man camp + meals for rotational employees
  • Overtime opportunities
  • Stable, year-round work with room for career advancement

*Technicians provide their own standard hand tools; Transwest supplies specialty tooling and diagnostic software.

Transwest Mobile Truck Repair is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

  • 6+ years of heavy equipment or diesel engine repair experience - Required
  • Proven diagnostic ability on complex mechanical and electrical systems
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Able to pass pre-employment screening and any customer site requirements

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Cummins INSITE, DAVIE, CAT ET, Allison DOC, ServiceRanger, JPRO, or similar
  • Exposure to oilfield or industrial equipment
  • Fullbay shop management software experience
  • Welding/fabrication experience, CDL, or ASE certifications
