Job description

$5,000.00 Bonus Available *
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
Reassesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention. Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs and recognizes and responds to emergencies.
Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome.
Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
Coordinates team assignments and makes adjustments based upon patient and unit needs; follows up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness. Utilizes appropriate chain of command for resolution of difficult issues.
Participates in orientation of new staff.
Maintains a neat, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff.
Participates in the unit's continuous quality improvement plan to improve organizational performance.
Functions as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff; greeting them promptly and courteously.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health.
Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Critical Care Unit: ACLS or ALS certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Must successfully complete dysrhythmia recognition test at initial department orientation.
Emergency Department: Must complete ACLS or ALS certification during orientation. Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course or PALS must be completed within one year of hire.
Maternity Center: ACLS or ALS Certification required. NPR certification is required within 3 months of hire.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana required. BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers Certification required. PALS Certification required for staff who are assigned to care for pediatric patients. BSN preferred.
* Eligibility for the bonus is limited to external candidates and internal candidates who are new registered nurses. Requires a 24-month employment commitment.
Johnson Memorial Health is a nationally-recognized network of physicians, services and healthcare resources based in Johnson County, Indiana. The centerpiece is Johnson Memorial Hospital, located in Franklin Indiana, just 20 minutes south of Indianapolis.
