Title: Safe Work Permit Writer - Caustic
Location: Plaquemine, LA
Salary: $48.78 - $58.53
Schedule: 4/10
Reports to: Vincent Ashford
HR Support: Emily Law
Focus: The SWP is responsible for all aspects of job permitting, equipment isolation and preparation, and verifies hazard mitigation and elimination. The position also ensures all Olin and/or Government regulations, standards, policies, and procedures are met or exceeded, prior to authorizing/issuing a Safe Work Permit (SWP) to allow work activities to begin.
Essential Functions:
  • Issue Safe Work Permits (SWP) in full compliance with established standards, maintaining copies of all permits, checklists, and supporting aids in a centralized location.
  • Prior to issuing a SWP, ensure a thorough understanding of the work scope, equipment involved, energy isolation requirements, and that all necessary equipment preparation and cleaning have been completed to establish a safe work area.
  • Identify, remove, mitigate, and review all known or potential hazards associated with the work, area, and equipment, ensuring these hazards are clearly communicated to and understood by all personnel accepting the SWP.
  • Verify that all personnel receiving a SWP have completed the required facility or work-group training and safety indoctrination.
  • Ensure all personnel understand applicable personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and restrictions as they relate to the execution of permitted work.

Position Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of work experience writing Safe Work Permits; 5+ years of experience preferred
  • Must be fully certified outside in Plaquemine Caustic unit
  • Experience with a Chlor Alkali manufacturing process preferred
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Products
  • Proven effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
