Focus: The SWP is responsible for all aspects of job permitting, equipment isolation and preparation, and verifies hazard mitigation and elimination. The position also ensures all Olin and/or Government regulations, standards, policies, and procedures are met or exceeded, prior to authorizing/issuing a Safe Work Permit (SWP) to allow work activities to begin.
Essential Functions:- Issue Safe Work Permits (SWP) in full compliance with established standards, maintaining copies of all permits, checklists, and supporting aids in a centralized location.
- Prior to issuing a SWP, ensure a thorough understanding of the work scope, equipment involved, energy isolation requirements, and that all necessary equipment preparation and cleaning have been completed to establish a safe work area.
- Identify, remove, mitigate, and review all known or potential hazards associated with the work, area, and equipment, ensuring these hazards are clearly communicated to and understood by all personnel accepting the SWP.
- Verify that all personnel receiving a SWP have completed the required facility or work-group training and safety indoctrination.
- Ensure all personnel understand applicable personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and restrictions as they relate to the execution of permitted work.
Position Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of work experience writing Safe Work Permits; 5+ years of experience preferred
- Must be fully certified outside in Plaquemine Caustic unit
- Experience with a Chlor Alkali manufacturing process preferred
- Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Products
- Proven effective verbal and written communication skills
- Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
