Job description

Position Summary

The Arborist/Estimator serves as the primary point of contact for prospective customers seeking tree care services. This position is responsible for meeting with residential and commercial customers, evaluating tree service needs, preparing accurate estimates, educating customers on recommended services, and securing approved work.

The ideal candidate possesses practical knowledge of tree care, removal, trimming, pruning, and property management while demonstrating strong communication and sales skills. This role focuses on building customer relationships, identifying customer needs, and converting opportunities into profitable work for the company.

This position does not require ISA Arborist Certification; however, industry experience and tree care knowledge are strongly preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet with prospective customers at residential and commercial properties.
  • Evaluate trees, vegetation, site conditions, and customer concerns.
  • Recommend appropriate tree removal, trimming, pruning, stump grinding, and related services.
  • Prepare accurate estimates utilizing company pricing guidelines.
  • Present estimates professionally and explain scope of work to customers.
  • Follow up on open estimates to increase closing ratios.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Maintain detailed customer records and estimate notes within company software.
  • Coordinate with Operations to ensure work orders accurately reflect customer expectations.
  • Conduct site visits as necessary before, during, and after project completion.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and upselling.
  • Resolve customer concerns in a professional manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of company services, equipment capabilities, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in sales meetings and performance reviews.
  • Support company revenue and profitability goals through effective estimating and sales practices.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to operate a company vehicle.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read property layouts, identify access challenges, and evaluate job site conditions.
  • Basic computer and smartphone proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a schedule.
  • Professional appearance and customer-focused attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the tree service industry.
  • Experience estimating tree removal, trimming, pruning, or landscaping projects.
  • Sales experience in home services, construction, landscaping, or related industries.
  • Knowledge of tree species common to Florida.
  • ISA Arborist Certification (preferred but not required).
  • CDL license or equipment operation experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk uneven terrain and inspect job sites.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to enter and exit vehicles frequently throughout the workday.

Performance Expectations

Success in this position will be measured through:

  • Estimate volume generated - Goals met consistently
  • Estimate close rate – Percentages reviewed Quarterly
  • Revenue Sold – Sales goals met consistently
  • Gross profit generated – Percentages reviewed Quarterly
  • Customer satisfaction rating upheld and positive
  • Accuracy of work orders – Variance from work completed to estimated
  • Follow-up consistency – Within 24 hours of Estimate submission
  • Contribution to company growth objectives

Compensation

Compensation may include a combination of base salary, commissions, incentives, bonuses, and other performance-based rewards.
