Parks & Recreation

Tree Trimmer II

Posting:  June 7, 2026

Salary: $65,000 annually

General Description and Classification Standards: 

Serves as a worker on a tree trimming crew. This position is the advanced journey level of the tree trimming series, which provides expertise in pruning trees, and removing limbs or trees from Parks Recreation and Cultural Affairs regulated areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Prune trees and remove limbs safely and efficiently.
  • Evaluate work sites to determine appropriate tools, methods, and safety needs.
  • Maintain, operate, and inspect equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Complete and process required paperwork associated with daily tasks and projects.
  • Provide general direction on work assignments to crew members.
  • Monitor and guide the work of other crew members to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Supervise a crew in the absence of the Forestry Crew Supervisor.
  • Work independently and exercise significant judgment and decision-making on routine assignments.
  • Use limited discretion when responding to emergency or urgent situations.
  • Report to the Forestry Crew Supervisor, who evaluates performance based on results achieved.

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience

Must obtain a Class B Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months of hire.

Must have at least 2 years of experience in removing trees by climbing with and without tree spikes.

Must be able to operate various types of tree operations equipment (Bucket Truck, Chipper Truck, Dump Truck and Chain Saws)

Licensures and Certifications

Valid Georgia driver's license required. 

Lifting Requirements:  

Heavy work:  Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
