Key Responsibilities
  • Content Creation & Strategy: Develop, schedule, and publish engaging, high-quality content (video, carousel posts, stories, blogs) that highlights the beauty, culture, and adventure of traveling from the U.S. to Africa.
  • Community Management: Act as the voice of Travelwings on social media. Proactively engage with our community by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and authentic manner.
  • Targeted Outreach: Design and execute social media campaigns specifically aimed at reaching and resonating with African diaspora and African American travelers in the U.S.
  • Trend Monitoring: Stay on top of the latest U.S. social media trends, algorithm changes, and competitor activities, adapting our strategy to remain relevant and effective.
  • Influencer & Partnership: Identify and assist in building relationships with U.S.-based travel influencers and community leaders, especially those focused on Black travel and African destinations.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) like engagement, reach, follower growth, and conversion rates. Provide monthly reports on what's working and what isn't.

Requirements
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing successful social media campaigns or content, particularly with video (TikToks, Reels).
  • In-depth knowledge of major social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube) and their respective best practices in the U.S. market.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for storytelling and copywriting.
  • Based in or able to commute to our Washington D.C. office (DMV area).
  • Demonstrable experience and cultural understanding in marketing to the African American community and the African diaspora in the United.
  • A deep understanding of the cultural nuances, interests, and motivations related to heritage travel, "Year of Return" themes, and travel to West Africa (e.g., Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, etc.).
  • A genuine passion for African travel, culture, and history. Personal travel experience in West Africa is a major plus.
