Job Summary

The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Student Success Center (NSM SSC) hires Student Assistants to support the center, center programming and college programming. The NSM SSC is open to all CSUF students and provides peer tutoring, advising, and workshops for all CSUF students taking courses in the College of NSM.

The center provides students a community to learn and ask for assistance in their science and mathematics courses without any barriers. Student Assistants help at the front desk and with center tasks, i.e., answer questions, center appointments, and with our first-year experience course. We provide paid training and weekly team meetings for our student staff under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • In addition to submitting an application for available positions, students must submit a letter of recommendation. Notification of employment acceptance will occur when all references have been contacted and grades have been posted.
