Non-Exempt
General Functions:
Continually provide excellent member service while functioning in multiple roles, including teller line transactions, lending, and new account opening and maintenance. The Universal Banker (UB) will provide excellent member service by performing accurate transactions, listening, educating, and identifying members' needs. The UB will share all?products/services meeting those needs to best serve the member and help the credit union prosper.
The UB position will require attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and a basic understanding of navigating multiple computer programs and the internet. UB must always maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Reflects the credit union's core values in their daily activities and at any time they represent the credit union.
2) Promote credit union products and services based on member needs that transpire from member interviews.
3) Maintain current knowledge of all credit union services and policies. Maintain knowledge of competitor rates, terms, etc., as well as internal trends relating to lending. Counsel members on interest rates and cross-serve services offered at the credit union.
4) Open new share accounts and certificates. Assist members in the completion of Individual Retirement Account and Share Certificate applications.
5) Process new account information including ordering checks, verifying eligibility, checking for appropriate signatures, filing cards, mailing welcome letters, etc. Print starter or temporary checks for members. Assist members with Instant Issue ATM cards.
6) Process Skip-A-Pay requests.
7) Assist members with all account maintenance requests.
8) Assist members with discrepancies and complaints. Make corrections and refunds on accounts if necessary. Close account when applicable.
9) Ensure accurate processing of loans by making sure that each one is properly documented, closed, disbursed, coordinated, and filed. Notify auto dealerships of any missing paperwork.
10) Analyze and process consumer loan applications. Pull credit reports for all accounts, verify debts, estimate monthly payment for any outstanding debts not listed, and add them to debts on application.
11) Mail loan application and/or information to members and prospective members. Look up NADA values and provide quotes to members.
12) Review delinquency notices for accuracy and mail them as appropriate.
13) Assist member with information as to the status of pending loans. Explain reasons for denial and explore options for members when loans are denied.
14) Assist members and Loan Processors in filing debt protection, credit disability, and credit life insurance claims.
15) Ensure that all information and transactions regarding credit union members are kept confidential. Enforce strict adherence to established security procedures.
16) Perform all teller duties.
17) Able to assist and backup duties and responsibilities of more senior positions or other positions as needed.
18) Provide organization-wide member service as needed by assisting with functions including, but not limited to: answering member calls, emails, and online chats.
19) Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
20) Maintains work area in an orderly manner.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 months of teller or cash handling experience.
  • Minimum of one year customer service experience.
  • Availability during branch hours and to work at alternate Branch locations if/when assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping is preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of cash handling/teller experience is preferred.
  • Financial Counseling Certification (or obtain within two (2) years of holding the position).

PAY INFORMATION
$17.15 per hour dependent upon qualifications and experience.
