What are JFM?

JFM typically stands for Joint Forest Management, which is a concept and program in forestry that involves local communities in the management and conservation of forests. Under JFM, local villagers and government forest departments collaborate to sustainably manage forest resources and share the benefits derived from them. The approach aims to protect forests, improve biodiversity, and provide livelihoods for participating communities. It has been implemented in several countries, especially in India, as a way to promote community participation in environmental conservation.
