Job description

๏ปฟAbout Us:

An American landmark since 1991, Pawn Superstore is recognized as the largest pawn store in the United States. Our mission is to provide short-term loan solutions while offering a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Known for our history of innovation and leadership, we attract customers from around the world with our exceptional collection of luxury goods, rare collectibles, and high-value itemsโ€”from designer handbags and fine jewelry to luxury watches and classic vehicles.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced and highly skilled Custom Jeweler to join our team and provide exceptional craftsmanship across custom jewelry, repairs, modifications, and restoration.

Position Overview:

As a Custom Jeweler, you'll be responsible for creating, repairing, modifying, and restoring fine jewelry while maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship and attention to detail. You'll work hands-on with gold, platinum, diamonds, gemstones, and high-value jewelry ranging from everyday pieces to one-of-a-kind custom designs.

This position requires strong bench skills and the ability to take projects from concept through completion. Your craftsmanship, technical expertise, and ability to work confidently with valuable merchandise will play an important role in expanding our custom jewelry capabilities and maintaining the quality our customers expect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and complete custom jewelry pieces based on customer specifications, designs, sketches, CAD models, or existing jewelry.
  • Perform advanced jewelry repairs, including sizing, soldering, chain repair, prong repair, stone replacement, rebuilding, and structural restoration.
  • Set and secure diamonds and gemstones using a variety of setting techniques.
  • Work confidently with gold, platinum, silver, diamonds, gemstones, and other precious materials.
  • Modify, restore, and refinish vintage, luxury, and high-value jewelry.
  • Perform polishing, cleaning, rhodium plating, finishing, and final quality-control inspections.
  • Evaluate jewelry to determine appropriate repair methods, potential risks, labor requirements, and material needs.
  • Inspect stones, settings, mountings, clasps, prongs, and other components before and after work is performed.
  • Collaborate with customers, sales associates, and management to develop custom jewelry concepts and determine project specifications.
  • Accurately estimate labor, materials, and completion timelines for custom and repair projects.
  • Maintain organized records of customer jobs, materials, stones, and work performed.
  • Maintain tools, machinery, bench equipment, and work areas in professional working condition.
  • Follow proper procedures for handling, documenting, and securing diamonds, gemstones, precious metals, and customer-owned merchandise.
  • Maintain strict quality standards across all completed work.
  • Handle high-value and irreplaceable merchandise with care, discretion, security, and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with sales, inventory, e-commerce, and management teams regarding custom jewelry projects and repair services.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional bench jewelry experience, preferably involving custom fabrication, fine jewelry repair, stone setting, or high-end jewelry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in jewelry fabrication, soldering, sizing, repair, polishing, and finishing.
  • Strong experience working with gold and platinum.
  • Experience setting diamonds and gemstones using common setting techniques.
  • Ability to safely work on high-value, vintage, luxury, and customer-owned jewelry.
  • Strong understanding of jewelry construction, precious metals, gemstones, settings, and repair techniques.
  • Ability to evaluate damaged or worn jewelry and determine the appropriate repair or restoration method.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, precision, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently manage projects from initial assessment through final quality control.
  • Experience with laser welding is strongly preferred.
  • CAD/CAM jewelry design experience is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with engraving, casting, mold making, or advanced stone setting is a plus.
  • Formal training from a recognized jewelry, bench, or gemological program is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Portfolio or examples of previous custom jewelry work may be requested.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Base Pay
  • Opportunity to Create One-of-a-Kind Custom Jewelry
  • Access to a Diverse Inventory of Fine Jewelry, Diamonds & Precious Metals
  • Continued Training & Professional Development
  • Growth Opportunities in Jewelry & Luxury Goods
  • Medical, Dental, & Vision Benefits
  • Paid Time Off
  • 401K Retirement Plan & Life Insurance
