Attention to detail is essential, as small errors can impact the quality of finished pieces. Overcoming these challenges involves developing strong hand-eye coordination, practicing patience, and actively seeking feedback from experienced jewelers. Collaborating closely with team members and being open to learning new techniques can also help assistants grow their skills and confidence on the job.

Job description

Thacker Jewelry is seeking a motivated, long-term team member who is passionate about people, fine jewelry, and creating exceptional client experiences.

We are looking for someone who enjoys building genuine relationships, takes pride in their work, and comes to work each day ready to contribute. The right person for this position is self-motivated, eager to learn, and naturally looks for the next way they can help a client, support a teammate, or improve the store.

At Thacker Jewelry, there is always something to learn, organize, prepare, follow up on, or improve. We value team members who stay engaged, take initiative, and do not wait to be told every next step.

In this role, you will work closely with clients to understand their needs, answer questions about our jewelry and services, and recommend thoughtful solutions for purchases, repairs, and custom design projects. Jewelry experience is helpful, but a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn are just as important.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Create a warm, welcoming, and professional experience for every client.
  • Assist clients in selecting jewelry that fits their needs, preferences, and budget.
  • Build long-term client relationships through trust, attentive service, and consistent follow-up.
  • Educate clients about jewelry features, craftsmanship, care, and available services.
  • Guide clients through custom design projects, jewelry repairs, and other service needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong knowledge of our jewelry, services, store policies, and procedures.
  • Follow up with clients regarding purchases, repairs, custom projects, and special occasions.
  • Process sales and transactions accurately through our point-of-sale system.
  • Support visual merchandising and maintain exceptional store presentation standards.
  • Keep showcases, displays, work areas, and client spaces clean, organized, and ready for business.
  • Look for productive ways to assist the team during slower periods without waiting to be directed.
  • Support inventory control and follow established store procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to achieve individual and store goals.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in retail sales, luxury retail, customer service, or jewelry sales is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Friendly, polished, and professional demeanor.
  • Genuine interest in serving others and building lasting client relationships.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to recognize what needs to be done and take appropriate action.
  • Curious, coachable, and eager to learn.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Comfortable handling point-of-sale transactions and basic math.
  • Able to remain calm, respectful, and solution-focused when addressing client concerns.
  • Dependable, punctual, and prepared to work.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude and a strong work ethic.

The ideal candidate:

  • Enjoys working with people and making them feel comfortable and valued.
  • Appreciates craftsmanship, fine jewelry, and meaningful celebrations.
  • Comes to work with energy, initiative, and a desire to grow.
  • Takes ownership of responsibilities and follows tasks through to completion.
  • Enjoys staying productive and looks for the next way to contribute.
  • Is willing to ask questions, receive feedback, and continue learning.
  • Notices what needs attention without always waiting to be asked.
  • Takes pride in both the client experience and the behind-the-scenes work that keeps the store running well.
  • Wants to become a trusted, long-term member of our team.

Our Work Environment:

Thacker Jewelry is a family-owned, independent jewelry store built on craftsmanship, integrity, personal relationships, and exceptional service. Our clients trust us with some of life’s most meaningful moments, and we take that responsibility seriously.

We are looking for someone who wants more than simply a place to clock in. We want a team member who is excited to learn the jewelry business, contribute to the success of the store, and grow with us over time.
