What is a jewelry assistant?

Jewelry Assistants are professionals who support jewelers and sales teams in jewelry stores or workshops. Their duties often include organizing inventory, handling customer inquiries, assisting with sales, cleaning and displaying jewelry, and sometimes helping with minor repairs or administrative tasks. They play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of jewelry businesses and ensuring customers have a positive experience. Jewelry Assistants need good communication skills, attention to detail, and sometimes knowledge of gemstones and precious metals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a jewelry assistant?

To thrive as a Jewelry Assistant, you need attention to detail, basic knowledge of gemstones and metals, and experience in retail or customer service, often supported by a high school diploma. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, jewelry cleaning tools, and inventory management software is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, organization, and the ability to handle delicate items with care make someone stand out in this position. These skills ensure accurate transactions, excellent customer experiences, and proper handling of valuable merchandise.

What are some common challenges faced by jewelry assistants when managing inventory and orders?

Jewelry Assistants often face the challenge of maintaining accurate inventory records due to the small size and high value of items. Keeping track of incoming shipments, outgoing sales, and restocking needs requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Additionally, Jewelry Assistants must coordinate with sales staff, suppliers, and sometimes customers to ensure timely order fulfillment and resolve discrepancies. It's important to develop efficient tracking systems and clear communication practices to succeed in this aspect of the role.

Job description

No Experience Needed-We will train you- Permanent Jewelry Studio Artist - West Towne Mall

We are hiring for an artist at our permanent jewelry studio located in West Towne Mall.

This is a fun, customer-facing position in a retail environment. You'll spend your day helping customers create memorable experiences through custom-fitted pieces. While the atmosphere is fun and relaxed, reliability and professionalism are absolutely essential.

Schedule & Hours

  • 10-hour shifts
  • 3โ€“4 days per week
  • Average of approximately 35 hours per week
  • Mostly every other weekend off
  • Consistent schedule that provides excellent work/life balance

Important Scheduling Expectations:

Because we are located inside West Towne Mall, our business is required to be open whenever the mall is open. For that reason, punctuality and dependability are non-negotiable.

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Have reliable transportation
  • Consistently arrive on time and ready to work
  • Can commit to the established schedule
  • Understand that this position must take priority over secondary employment obligations

We are happy to accommodate shift swaps between team members when arranged in advance and approved, but we cannot build schedules around second jobs or frequent availability changes.

If you have a history of attendance issues or struggle with punctuality, this position is likely not the right fit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to every guest
  • Explain jewelry options, pricing, and procedures
  • Measure, fit, and weld permanent jewelry
  • Assist customers in selecting chains and charms
  • Process transactions and maintain accurate records
  • Keep the studio clean, organized, and presentable
  • Open and close the studio as scheduled
  • Maintain inventory and notify management of low stock
  • Promptly respond to customer inquiries through social media and assist with creating engaging social media content by capturing photos and videos of customer experiences, jewelry, and daily studio activity
  • Represent the brand professionally and positively at all times

Qualifications

  • Friendly, outgoing personality with strong communication skills
  • Ability to comfortably engage with a wide variety of customers
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good eyesight and the ability to work with tiny objects
  • Steady hands and fine motor skills
  • Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
  • Professional appearance and good personal hygiene

Dress Code

As of now we do not plan to enforce a dress code. We simply expect that your attire is trendy but appropriate, without wrinkles, and shoes are clean. We expect team members maintain a polished appearance that reflects our brand and creates a professional, welcoming experience for customers.

Compensation

  • Base pay: $10.00 per hour
  • Tipped position above and beyond hourly
  • Earning potential varies based on customer volume and the level of service provided

As most service-oriented roles do, this position functions similarly to bartending or serving in that customer experience plays a large role in earning potential. The better the experience created through excellent customer service, engagement, and overall interaction, the more likely that employee will enjoy higher earnings.
