Job description

Tool & Die Technician
Overview:
Perform routine repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of injection molds, dies, jigs, fixtures, gaugers, and hand tools
Responsibilities & Requirements:
Perform preventive maintenance of all tools.
Set up and run Bridgeports, lathers, and surface grinders
Clean the tool surfaces with the approved products.
Knowledge of micrometers, calipers, indicators, optical comparators, ring and thread gauges.
Inspect for, and document, any defects or damage identified.
Use the Cold Jet tool cleaning system when applicable
Support production departments in repairing, adjusting and maintaining all forms of equipment
Clear all waste and cleaning products when complete
Wipe any grease, oil, dirt, etc. generated during the PM from machine surfaces
Any assignment as directed per management within the scope of personal capabilities
INDIRECT TASKS:
Perform housekeeping of the tool and die area
Order necessary materials to perform the assigned PM"s
Assist others in the cleaning / repairing of molds out of the press
Additional Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to write legibly, to maintain records, and follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Knowledge of advanced shop mathematics, drawings for part specifications, charts, tables, and all varieties of precision measuring instruments.
Ability to communicate in English effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
Understanding of basic computer programs.
Comfortable in the use of walkies and sit down forklift. Training to be provided if necessary.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently. Physically capable to assist with the moving and handling of tooling components
General Duties:
Works according to priorities set by the Maintenance Manager and / or Tool Room Lead
Complies with the regulations and guidelines of conduct in place.
Meets the requirements of safety, hygiene and quality.
