Jefferson Health is hiring Board Certified/Board Eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine trained Nocturnists to join our expanding Hospital Medicine teams across the enterprise, including:
Center City Philadelphia
Northeast Philadelphia (Torresdale)
Abington, Montgomery County
Lansdale, Montgomery County
Southern New Jersey locations
Job Description
  • Overnight Admissions & Inpatient Care: Evaluate and admit patients from the ED, conduct night rounds, and manage care for previously admitted patients.
  • Cross-Coverage Support: Provide backup to APPs, assist with ICU needs including rapid responses and Code Blue events (if available)
  • Open and closed ICU models depending on site (Not all sites require procedures)
  • Clinical Supervision (Optional Academic Track): Supervise residents and support triage and admissions for teaching teams-three nocturnists typically cover each night.
  • Academic opportunities available at select locations
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with interdisciplinary teams (nursing, specialists, social work) and ensure comprehensive transitions at shift change.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain thorough charting of histories, physicals, daily notes, and plans of care, ensuring compliance and accurate comorbidity coding.
  • Part-time and Per Diem Nocturnist Opportunities: We offer part-time and per diem Nocturnist opportunities dependent on location and needs.
