Job description

Job type: Part-time, 22 hours per week

Compensation: $18.75 per hour ($10 gas stipend per driving shift)

Location: In-person Jefferson Parish

Step Up Louisiana seeks a Canvasser to support our organization in getting our message out using door-to-door conversations, building our base, and winning progressive change. This is an ideal position for an outgoing person who likes walking and having conversations about elections, public health issues, and social justice issues like climate, jobs, and schools

Work Hours: Tuesday through Saturday 2pm to 6pm with phone banking on Tuesday and Thursday where your hours will be extended till 7pm to notify members of Chapter meetings, events or to set up 1on 1 with leadership .

This role reports to the Jefferson Parish Canvass Lead


Mission of Step Up Louisiana: Step Up Louisiana, along with our sister organization Step Up for Action, is a community based organization committed to building power to win education and economic justice for all. We work with multiracial and intergenerational Louisianans to "Step Up" by campaigning, organizing from a racial justice perspective, and holding public officials accountable. We organize with parents, workers, students, and community members to disrupt systemic oppression in our schools and workplaces through voter education, advocacy, and action.

  • Ability to use tablet seamlessly to sign people up for membership
  • Ability to read and interpret scripts and change scripts regularly and easily

Desired Qualifications

  • Drivers' license, ability to drive, a working car with car insurance is a plus
