Job description

Job Summary:
Gromelski and Associates, Inc. (GAI) partners with prime contractors to provide professional services. The Display Java Developer role is intended to build up the Data Services team, focusing on software development activities and ensuring software standards are met.
Responsibilities:
• Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities.
• Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment.
• Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software.
• Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
• Ensure software standards are met.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Strong Linux/Unix development, integration, and troubleshooting background
• Proven Java development experience, including multithreading
• UI frameworks: JavaFX / Swing
• Ability to integrate, test, troubleshoot, and refactor software systems
• B.S. in Computer Science, Software/Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline
• Must be able to obtain and keep a DoD Secret Clearance which means you must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Proactive/self-starter. Task driven with ability to work independently.
• Team player that takes ownership and develops relationships that foster team success.
Preferred:
• Advanced Java multithreading
• Database experience (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or comparable)
• Inter‑process messaging middleware (gRPC, Artemis)
• Reactive programming (RxJava, Kotlin Coroutines, Flow)
• Performance‑tuning tools (JVisualVM, JConsole, JProfiler)
• Containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
