Job description

Job Summary:
Tata Consultancy Services is seeking a Java Developer with expertise in Liferay to develop and maintain web-based applications. The role involves collaborating with various teams to deliver solutions, managing applications on Tomcat, and ensuring application performance through optimization techniques.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain web-based applications using Java, Spring MVC, and Liferay platforms.
• Deploy and manage applications on Tomcat or other application servers.
• Design, develop, and integrate SOAP and RESTful web services.
• Collaborate with QA teams, Business Analysts, Project Managers, and other technical teams to deliver solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to application design and architecture.
• Support production deployments, monitor applications, and resolve production issues.
• Work on frontend development using JavaScript APIs, CSS3, and responsive design techniques.
• Ensure application performance through caching strategies and optimization techniques.
• Gain and apply knowledge of multiple technologies used across platforms.
• Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and enhancing existing systems.
• Ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks while maintaining application quality and stability.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Strong experience in Java web-based technologies, including Spring MVC.
• Hands-on experience with Liferay (7.x) and Tomcat 9.0+; exposure to other application servers like JBoss or GlassFish is acceptable.
• Proficiency in web development, including JavaScript APIs, CSS3, and responsive design.
• Good knowledge of web caching and server-side caching technologies.
• Experience with jQuery; understanding of frontend frameworks.
• Strong experience with SOAP and RESTful web services (hosting and consuming).

• BACHELOR OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
Preferred:
• Working knowledge of Angular or React.
• Exposure to VM templates and multi-technology platform environments.
• Experience working in highly integrated enterprise systems.
