Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Full Stack Developer with strong Java/Spring Boot/Angular experience to join our BEAGLE Team (Border Enforcement Applications for Government Leading-Edge Information Technology), supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Join this passionate team of industry-leading individuals supporting the best practices in Agile Software Development for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The ideal candidate will serve as an Agile Scrum team member providing software development and maintenance for the delivery of releasable software in short sprint cycles.
As a member of the BEAGLE Team, you will support the men and women charged with safeguarding the American people and enhancing the Nation's safety, security, and prosperity. CBP agents and officers are on the front lines every day, protecting our national security by combining customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection into one coordinated and supportive activity. Make a direct impact on national security while working with cutting-edge technologies.
Location: Remote work is available for candidates who are not local to Ashburn, VA. Local candidates are expected to be onsite 2 to 3 days per week.
Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Designing, developing, and implementing custom software and database application capabilities for a variety of legacy and modernized systems with limited oversight
  • Acting as a member of a product team supporting teammates and collaborating with a do what it takes attitude to ensure product and team success
  • Providing improvements to the product(s) being supported
  • Actively participate in release and sprint planning, artifact creation, sprint testing, regression testing, demonstrations and retrospectives and solution releases
  • Supporting release planning with conceptual design and development / refinement of software engineering guidelines
  • Analyzing complex project-related problems and creating innovative solutions involving, scheduling, technology, methodology, tools and solution components
  • Ensuring product quality and timeliness of work, providing advice and guidance, resolving problems to meet objectives, and providing periodic performance reports
  • Providing mentoring to junior members of the team

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years' experience or Associate's degree and 10 years' experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 12 years of experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Public Trust, which may take up to 12 months or longer to complete. The investigation includes:
    • 3 year check for felony convictions
    • 1 year check for illegal drug use and misconduct such as theft or fraud.
  • 7+ years of technical experience related to software design, development and implementation in a Windows Environment.
  • Must have proficiency in Java 8 or higher, including an in-depth understanding of OOP principles, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge and experience of the Angular framework including creating Angular components, services, good understanding of state management and UI performance
  • Must have experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and other modules, including dependency injection and aspect-oriented programming.
  • Strong knowledge of designing and implementing RESTful APIs, including standards, versioning, and documentation.
  • Experience using SQL or PL/SQL to access Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server databases

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current or recent government public trust, secret or higher security clearance
  • Current or former government contracting experience
  • Technical Certifications, such as OCAJP; OCPJP; OCE, OCM; CSM.
  • DOD 8570 certification
  • Ability to apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts, and contribute to the development of innovative principles and ideas
  • Additionally, familiarity with any of the following is highly desirable: HTML, React, Spring, VMware, ETL tools, ESB, message queuing, application security, automated testing, UML, VersionOne, Jira, or Sparx Enterprise Architect, PostGres, Aurora

Target Salary Range
$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
