Overview

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Quality Assurance Engineer I in Richland, WA.

This position will supportย Navarro-ATL.ย Navarro-ATLย is located inย Richland, WA andย operates, manages, andย maintainsย the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy.ย Navarro-ATLย members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).ย 

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

Quality Engineersย are responsible forย providing quality assurance/control engineering services in support of Navarro-ATL activities at the 222-S Laboratory.ย ย The laboratory is a category 3 nuclear facility implementing NQA-1-2008 with the NQA-1A-2009 addenda.ย ย The QA Engineer serves as a subject matter expert on quality functions primarily in support of facilities engineering.ย ย Duties include design control, procurement support, identification and/or processing of non-conforming items, corrective actions, audits, limited QC inspections, and maintenance of quality program documentation.ย 

Underย generalย supervision:ย 

  • Demonstrates understanding of the application of Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR) and can review and approve safety basis documents.ย 
  • Reviews drawings, process procedures, and quality reports.ย Identifiesย andย reportsย quality problems or trends.ย 
  • Perform quality control inspections.ย 
  • Technical authority forย quality plans, procedures, and audit checklists.ย ย 
  • Provides quality assurance support to procurement efforts through process oversight, qualification of vendors, review of procurement documents, development of quality assurance requirements, and evaluation of proposals.ย 
  • Ensuresย sampling plans, quality standards, and quality instructions areย utilizedย in assessing the quality levels of products and processes.ย 
  • Participates inย identifyingย and dispositioning non-conforming items.ย ย Provides recommendations concerning the disposition of defective materials.ย 
  • Leadsย program audits and surveillance, including supplier or subcontractor audits or surveillancesย 
  • Provideย quality guidance to engineers, technicians, and inspectors.ย 
  • Other duties as assignedย 
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Science or related field and 7 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experienceย 
  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements, US citizenship is required.ย

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.ย 
  • Must be able to communicate with peers and management clearly and concisely.ย 
  • Experience implementing ISO 9001, NQA-1, or similar quality systemsย

Compensation

Grade 18: $109,013 - $137,538ย 

The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate's education, training, and/or relevant experience.
