Summary and Description

Thomson Reuters Special Services (TRSS) is looking for a Data Engineer to support our Federal Law Enforcement customers. TRSS Data Engineers and Data Scientists serve several Federal Law Enforcement agencies by collecting, integrating, resolving, analyzing, modeling, and explaining large data in support of complex investigations. Success in this role requires strong technical depth, the initiative tooperatewith minimal direction, creativity to develop novel solutions, and a mission-focused mindset.

TRSS supports the full range of Federal Law Enforcement missions including, but not limited to:Immigration Enforcement,Emerging Threat Detection, Money Laundering, Fraud, Force Protection, Human Rights Crimes, Transnational Crime, and more. Outside of contract work, you may contribute to internal innovation byparticipatingin research and development (R&D),developingandmaintainingshared capabilities, strengthening technical skills, and supporting business development efforts such as proof-of-concept projects and capabilities briefings.

About the Role

A successful candidate mustpossessthe following minimum qualifications. Please ensure your resume and application clearlydemonstratethat you have:

  • United States Citizenship (essential tocomply withgovernment contract requirements).

  • Ability to obtain andmaintaina U.S. security clearance or agency work suitability determination, as required by assignment.

  • Willingness to work full time, on-site, embedded at US Government offices in the Burlington, VT area.

  • Bachelor's or Master'sDegree in a technical field

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, includingsome combination of:

  • Proficiencyin at least one programming language (Python, Java,R,etc),includingcreating programs for ETL, data pipelines,and entity resolution

  • Proficiencyinmultiple variants ofSQL,including complex queries,table and view creation,anddatabase performance tuning

  • Experience withmanaging enterprisedatabases andwarehouses, particularly MS SQL Server,Databricks, Snowflake

  • Data modeling across disparate data sources with a variety of formats and structures

  • Ability tointerface directly withcustomers at all levels and be a representative of TRSS.

  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential, or regulated datain accordance withapplicable policies and requirements.

  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.

  • Ability to interpret customer requests and/or problem statements into clear project plans, develop project goals and methods, and deliver actionable results within requiredtimeframes.

Additional Desired Skills

  • Experience with Cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, Snowflake, etc.)

  • Experience with formal SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) procedures

  • Experience with version control software andmethodology, preferablyGithub

About you:

Preference will be given to candidates whopossessthe minimum qualifications and the following preferred qualifications. Please ensure your resume and application clearlydemonstratethat you have:

  • Current/Active government work suitability or security clearance.

  • Experience working with law enforcement agencies.

  • Programming skills in multiple languages other than Python (Python is a minimum requirement) including R, Java, or SQL.

  • Experience with software development, including managing collaborative codebases, version control, linting/testing, containerization, and interacting with REST APIs.
