Job description

Minimum Qualifications: 
Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Instructional Technologies, Education or related field and three years of related experience.


Job Summary: 
Work with faculty and staff in building courses for the current LMS platform. Builds digital learning objects to produce engaging and effective instructional materials. Implements assessments and testing for distance learning courses. Provides training to faculty about general functions of the LMS systems and course functions. Provides technical support for faculty and students and documents frequent issues.


Job Duties:

  • Collaborates with Faculty to design and develop highly interactive courses/modules using multimedia technology and authoring tools for online delivery of new courses and existing courses. 
  • Develops and uses Leaning Management System (LMS) functionality to produce engaging content, plus hands-on exercises, assignments, test and quizzes, etc. 
  • Uses authoring tools including those for producing text, graphics, animation, sound, and motion pictures. 
  • Identifies areas of weakness in created course/modules, and feedback recommendations to faculty and instructional designers. 
  • Develops and executes project plans to ensure timely delivery of courses/modules. 
  • Assist Faculty in existing course content revision and continuing courses/modules updates, development and maintenance.
  • Use Authoring tools for JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, XML, and related tools as needed to enhance courses' interactive and multimedia projects. 
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with team members, with instructional designers, colleagues and faculty clients.
  • Provide timely and thorough documentation of projects. 
  • Trains Faculty on using, maintaining and administrating LMS courses. 
  • Develops and delivers training for nontechnical audiences, including students, faculty, and staff, on how to use LMS and course authoring software. 
  • Trains Faculty on using LMS' students' engagement systems such as course's e-mail, announcements, forums and wikis.
  • Provides technical support for Faculty who have technical, organizational, and conceptual questions or concerns about technology enhanced online classes.


Marginal or Periodic Job Functions:

  • Performs related duties as required.


Required Skills: 

  • Communications skills for an Academic Health center, communicating with Faculty and students. 
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills with members of other internal teams. 
  • Advanced knowledge of learning management systems administrative pages and reporting structure (BlackBoard, Canvas) 
  • Hands-on experience developing instructional materials for LMS such as BlackBoard, Canvas, etc. 
  • Advanced user of MS-Office 
  • Experience with web development (HTML4, HTML5, CSS) 
  • Experience with web authoring software such us DreamWeaver, SoftChalk and VoiceThread 
  • Experience with image editing and graphic development packages such us Adobe CS. (Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, etc) 
  • Experience with video editing software such us Camtasia, IMovie, MS. MovieMaker, Captivate, ScreenFlow 
  • Ability to rapidly interpret Faculty' ideas into course implementation processes.
