The Huntington Enterprise Payments team is seekinga SeniorIT Application Manager to leada high-performingapplication development teamresponsible fordesigning,building, modernizing, and supporting cloud-nativeapplicationson Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role will provide technical and people leadership across front-end and back-end development, including modern user interfaces, Java-based services, APIs, microservices, data integrations, and containerized cloud deployments.

The manager will lead cross-functional Agile teams of developers, analysts, testers, Scrum Masters, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable digital payment solutions. They will manage team capacity, prioritize work, remove delivery barriers, and ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, cloud governance, security, risk, and operational standards.

This leader will remain engaged in production support, incident response, root cause analysis, resiliency planning, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings hands-on technical depth in GCP cloud services, front-end frameworks, back-end services, APIs, CI/CD automation, observability, and secure software delivery, while also demonstrating strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead delivery of business-critical applications using GCP cloud-native architecture, full-stack development practices, and enterprise engineering standards.
  • Manage and mentor a team responsible for front-end development, back-end services, API integrations, data processing, testing, implementation, and production support.
  • Partner with architects and engineering teams to design scalable, secure, resilient, and highly available solutions using GCP services, microservices, containers, and modern integration patterns.
  • Provide technical leadership for Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, React or Angular, TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL/NoSQL databases, messaging, and event-driven architecture.
  • Oversee Agile delivery activities including planning, estimation, design, development, unit testing, defect resolution, release readiness, implementation planning, and change execution.
  • Track and communicate delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes using tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, ServiceNow, Git, Jenkins, and related enterprise platforms.
  • Champion secure development practices, cloud governance, vulnerability remediation, code quality, automated testing, and compliance with enterprise risk standards.
  • Guide design reviews, code reviews, testing strategies, technical documentation, and production readiness reviews.
  • Lead incident response and problem management for high-priority production issues, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and prevention plans.
  • Drive observability and operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, logging, performance tuning, capacity planning, and resiliency improvements.
  • Maintain evergreen documentation including application architecture, cloud deployment patterns, developer standards, onboarding guides, runbooks, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaborate with business partners, product owners, QA, infrastructure, cyber security, database, networking, and vendor teams to deliver high-quality technology outcomes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ Years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years of hands-on application development experience, including enterprise Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and integration technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing application development teams in an Agile delivery environment.
  • 3+ years of hands-on cloud-native development experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or comparable public cloud services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and supporting both front-end and back-end application components, including React, Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Java, Spring Boot, APIs, and database integrations.
  • Strong understanding of GCP services and patterns such as Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub,BigQuery, IAM, Cloud Build, and cloud networking concepts.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development, automated builds, deployments, and release management.
  • Strong understanding of microservice architecture, API design, distributed systems, design patterns, resiliency, scalability, and performance engineering.
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, SQL queries, data integration, and secure data handling practices.
  • Proven ability to lead production support, incident management, root cause analysis, and operational improvement for business-critical applications.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder partnership, technical documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor developers, influence cross-functional teams, and translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Google Cloud certification such as Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud Developer, or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications to GCP cloud-native platforms and decomposing monolithic applications into microservices.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager, or similar automation frameworks.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture, Kafka, Pub/Sub, MQ, streaming, or high-volume transaction processing.
  • Experience using observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Honeycomb, Grafana, Prometheus, or GCP Cloud Operations.
  • Payments or financial services background in one or more areas such as Wires, ACH, Zelle, RTP, Bill Pay, transfers, fraud, or digital channels.
  • Experience with secure software development practices including OAuth2, JWT,mTLS, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and application security controls.
  • Experience with test-driven development, automated regression testing, performance testing, and release quality gates.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux shell scripting and operational automation.
