Software Developer

Position Overview

Length: 18 months Location: Chesterfield preferred (local candidates will be prioritized), remote considered. Notes: This is production support. 80% of the position will be support and configuration management, only about 20% or less will be any kind of software development. Candidates must have great communication and interpersonal skills along with excellent customer service skills. Any development this person will be assigned is typical C#.

Overview:

  • (Required) Maintain support queue by providing BAU support for day to day requests and incidents
  • (Required) Provide configuration management with COTS and SaaS services
  • (Required) Develop, test and support.NET based web applications according to technical specifications as part of global project teams
  • (Required) Work side-by-side and under direction of Senior Developers to provide optimal solution per business requirements
  • (Nice to have) Coordination on with other IT Teams on the execution of lifecycle management of system environments

Responsibilities (Ranked in Priority)

  • (Required) Ability to multi-task and provide technical system support to users
  • (Required) Preparation of documents detailing the operations and maintenance of programs along with updating support knowledge base documents
  • (Nice to have) Recommend improvements, e.g. for more efficient usage of resources, simplify processes, etc.
  • (Required) Undertake programming assignments including the design, coding, testing and the documentation of programs
  • (Required) Be able to troubleshoot application issues and present solutions to Lead Developers
  • (Required) Test the validity and logic of programs and make amendments as required
  • (Required) Ensure all programs are developed according to schedule and meet the necessary standards, e.g. RGA global coding standards, security best practices, etc.
  • Other duties as designated by Director or Lead Developer

Requirements

  • (Required) 6+ years of experience in programming/systems analysis
  • (Required) Experience in Programming languages (C#/.NET, JavaScript)
  • (Required) Experience using Microsoft.NET technology (.NET framework, .NET Core, MVC, Web Services, WCF, LINQ, IIS, TFS)
  • (Nice to have) Experience with Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, and Visio tools
  • (Required) Knowledge of relational database systems, database design and SQL query language
  • (Required) Knowledge of structured and object-oriented programming, DevOps, networking concepts and systems integration
  • (Nice to have) Ability to translate complex business needs and problems into systems’ design and technical solutions
  • (Required) Good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with team members and stakeholders around the globe
  • (Nice to have) Advanced oral and written communication skills (English)
