Job Title: Engineering Intern - Auburn, AL
Location: Auburn, AL
Job Type: Part-time
Company Overview: Integrated Solutions for Systems (IS4S) is a fast-growing small business at the forefront of developing innovative solutions for the warfighter. We use applied research and development combined with novel systems integration to enhance capabilities of our armed forces.
Job Description:
IS4S is seeking qualified candidates for part-time engineering internships at our Auburn, AL location. Interns filling this role will work engineers in cross-functional teams on a variety of projects. Interns are expected to work at least 10 hours per week at the IS4S facilities with some flexibility during exam weeks.
Typical activities and responsibilities would include:
• Supporting data collection and testing activities
• Develop and execute test plans in the laboratory
• Connecting and using computers, sensors, and RF equipment
• Assist other engineers in one or more of the following:
o Design custom electronic enclosures and wiring harnesses
o Develop and test software for sensors and other data acquisition equipment
o Support RF and antenna electronic design and testing
Basic Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a degree in engineering
• Basic proficiency in a modern programming language (e.g., C/C++, Java, MATLAB, Python, etc.)
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and perform tasks with minimal direction
• MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word proficiency
• Ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance
Desired Experience and Skills:
• Ability to accurately execute build instructions for electronic systems, identify discrepancies or omissions, and document corrective action.
• Mechanical aptitude for mounting hardware, torque control, and enclosure integration.
• Experience using CAD software for concept development, 3D printing, and metal fabrication
• Experience in soldering and wire crimping and performing circuit verification using a digital multimeter (continuity, resistance, voltage).
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and development with microcontrollers and communication protocols, such as SPI and I2C
