JOB SUMMARY
Works under general supervision to administer, develop, and optimize Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud environments supporting enterprise analytics for the UT Southwestern Health System. Serves as the health system's subject matter expert for Tableau architecture, dashboard development, and data visualization, with full lifecycle ownership of the Health System Balanced Scorecard, including requirements analysis, data modeling, workbook development, publishing, performance tuning, governance, and ongoing operational support. Establishes and enforces standards for Tableau data sources, extracts, refresh schedules, workbook performance, visualization best practices, and role-based access controls. Troubleshoots and resolves complex Tableau Server/Cloud issues related to authentication, permissions, data connectivity, extract refresh failures, rendering performance, and embedded analytics. Drives continuous improvement of health system dashboards by optimizing queries, calculations, extracts, and visual design to support performance management and executive reporting. Ensures all published Tableau content complies with ADA accessibility standards and institutional governance requirements. Leads the integration and embedding of Tableau dashboards and views into web applications and enterprise platforms using Tableau's embedding APIs and authentication frameworks. Provides expert consultation, technical guidance, and best practices to stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, high-performance analytics that enable data-driven decision making across the health system.

    3 years of technical skill responsibilities and 
    Experience in the following competencies: HTML - HTML/CSS/Dreamweaver, JavaScript, JAVA, JSP, Beans, EJB, Web Services, Frameworks, SQL. and 
    Strong database skillsOracle/SQL Server, Architects Advanced Design Patterns, MVC, DAO, Structs, and JSF. 
     


JOB DUTIES

  • Works with institutional parties to debug, enhance, and educate users about electronic internet systems and design.
  • Delivers content management solutions for websites and assists with technical and design recommendations for products.
  • Builds high customer satisfaction by managing end-users expectations, communicating complex technical issues clearly and in a way this is easily understood. Documents agreed upon resolutions.
  • Follows up with clients to ensure successful completion of tasks. Resolves bugs in a timely manner and enforce quality assurance standards by developing high quality code which is reusable, well documented, stable, efficient, and defect free.
  • Ensures code is thoroughly tested to avoid production defects or complaints.
  • Works independently to research and resolve problems and shares findings with others during technical meetings.
  • Assists in the building of infrastructure and participates in projects that support the goals and advancement of the department.
  • Ensures successful completion of department tasks in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the testing of websites and systems to ensure they meet institutional and regulatory standards.
  • May perform usability studies to continually improve website architecture.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
