Job description

The Mayo Clinic IT Radiology AI unit is seeking a talented and motivated professional to contribute to the advancement of Radiology Artificial Intelligence initiatives. As part of the Framework for AI Software Technologies (FAST) program, you will join scientists, engineers, and clinicians to turn prototypes-including generative-AI and large-language-model solutions-into secure, cloud-native applications that enhance patient care.

In this collaborative role, you will analyze requirements, develop robust software applications, validate integrations with clinical systems, and provide operational support for production workflows. Success is built on experience with Python coding, modern cloud platforms, machine learning, and medical imaging. Familiarity with Generative AI, LLMs, FHIR, Google Cloud, and Epic integrations is especially valuable.
Responsibilities:

Participate in DevOps, Agile, continuous development and integration frameworks.

Programming in high-level languages such as Python, Go, C, C++, C#, Java, etc.

Work on deployment automation/configuration management with tools including but not limited to ADO, GitHub, Azure Pipelines, Terraform following a DevOps model.

Ensure all appropriate documentation of processes and source code is created and maintained.

Communicate effectively with peers, leaders, and customers throughout the organization.

Participate in expert level troubleshooting and resolve problems through root cause analysis, data, and system investigation.

Continue to build knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers.

Use prescribed guidelines or policies to analyze and resolve problems.

Receive a moderate level of guidance and direction.

Participate with the team in providing 24/7 call support.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field; Or an Associates' degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field with an additional 2 years of experience as described below.

Working knowledge and experience of Software Engineering with a minimum of internships and a minimum of 1 yr. of experience, or 2 yrs of experience coding applications or services in a high-level language (Python, C, C++, Go, Java, C# etc.).

Familiarity with modern tools for generative AI, including large language models, prompt engineering, and retrieval augmented generation.

Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills.

Strong technical aptitude for designing and implementing software solutions.

Experience with modern application development frameworks.

Knowledge of professional software-engineering practices across the full development life cycle-coding standards, code reviews, source-control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Deep hands-on technical expertise coupled with excellent verbal and written communications.

Experience with Agile software development methods.

Preferred Technology Experience:

Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud-based services.

Experience with cloud environments (Google, AWS, Azure).

Experience with Python programming language.

Experience in databases, analytics, big data systems or business intelligence products.

Experience building high-performance, highly available and scalable distributed systems.

Experience developing software for healthcare related industries.
