Summary:

Onset Technologies is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support our client with application enhancements, defect resolution, and modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, RESTful web services, SQL, and enterprise application development, along with experience supporting testing, troubleshooting, and production support activities.

Description:

  • The Senior Java Developer will support the SCOR BAU EI parallel initiative by developing, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise Java applications in a multi-environment setting. This role will be responsible for updating business logic, enhancing user interfaces, extending reporting functionality, and supporting changes to the system data model.
  • The developer will work closely with technical teams to support application enhancements, defect corrections, testing, peer reviews, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis activities. The role also includes maintaining code quality, security compliance, testing standards, and documentation throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • This position requires strong expertise in Java and J2EE technologies, Spring Framework, RESTful services, SQL development, and enterprise application support. Candidates should be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting ongoing operational activities, including on-call support as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise Java applications supporting business operations
  • Update business logic, user interface functionality, and system data models
  • Extend and maintain reporting capabilities within enterprise applications
  • Support application enhancements, maintenance activities, and defect corrections
  • Develop and maintain RESTful web services using Spring Framework
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for relational databases
  • Participate in code reviews, peer reviews, and technical design discussions
  • Support testing activities including unit testing, troubleshooting, and defect resolution
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve production and application issues

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) using Java
  • 8+ years of experience developing applications on the J2EE platform
  • 8+ years of experience writing SQL for relational databases
  • 8+ years of experience developing RESTful web services using Spring Framework
  • 8+ years of experience with Spring Framework features including transaction management and security
  • 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise application development and maintenance
  • 8+ years of experience with JUnit and unit test development
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical skills
  • Experience supporting applications in multiple environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience with Angular UI Framework
  • 4+ years of experience with Crystal Reports
  • 4+ years of experience with Power BI
  • Experience supporting government or enterprise-level applications
  • Experience with SDLC methodologies, peer reviews, and production support processes
