Job Summary

We are seeking a Performance Test Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks with a strong focus on performance, synthetic, and observability testing for mission-critical healthcare applications. This role will collaborate closely with internal teams and external clients to ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and optimized for real-world usage. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in automation and performance testing with the ability to deliver clear insights and recommendations to both technical and business stakeholders.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerformance Testing & Automation
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks covering performance, functional, synthetic, API, and system tests.

  • Execute performance, load, stress, soak, and scalability tests to identify bottlenecks and performance risks.

  • Build synthetic tests and observability-driven scenarios to ensure real-time monitoring of client environments.

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on system performance using industry-standard tools and techniques.

  • Partner with development and DevOps teams to simulate real-world usage patterns and validate scalability benchmarks.

Test Strategy & Collaboration
  • Define and execute performance testing strategies, plans, and metrics based on business and client requirements.

  • Integrate performance and observability tests into CI/CD pipelines and production/non-production monitoring.

  • Provide SLA-driven reporting and actionable insights for internal leadership and client stakeholders.

  • Maintain a comprehensive test library aligned with Netsmart QA processes, ensuring positive workflow coverage and critical negative-path scenarios.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Support, and clients to evaluate release updates and assess system impact.

  • Ensure automation frameworks and manual test cases remain aligned and up to date.

  • Proactively participate in requirements, design, usability, and testing reviews, providing QA input during all stages of the SDLC.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Capture and publish test results, findings, and performance trends for internal and external audiences.

  • Continuously improve automation strategies and observability practices to enhance system reliability and client satisfaction.

  • Stay current with emerging tools, methodologies, and performance testing practices.

What You'll Need to Be SuccessfulRequired Skills
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience in performance testing and automation engineering.

  • Proficiency in tools such as JMeter, K6, LoadRunner, Gatling, or similar.

  • Proficiency writing automated tests in Java, Python, or similar scripting languages.

  • Strong knowledge of application architecture, system performance, and resource utilization.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).

  • Ability to independently plan, execute, and deliver on complex QA initiatives with minimal supervision.

  • Solid problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving complex system performance issues.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Skills
  • Java developer experience or computer science degree equivalent

  • Experience with cloud-native testing solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Hands-on knowledge of APM/observability tools (Dynatrace, New Relic, AppDynamics, Grafana).

  • Experience testing microservices and APIs under load.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present performance findings to non-technical stakeholders and clients.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality test cases, documentation, and release artifacts.

  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
