Job description

We are a 45-year-old company with a loyal, long-standing customer base and a strong reputation built on an established product portfolio. Our systems handle complex data processing and scalable architecture, where reliability and data integrity are paramount. We are now entering a new phase of growth with the introduction of a new product designed for a new market. 

As FairCom's Engineering Manager, you will be the primary driver of Agile maturity and the architect of our software testing strategy. This role will ensure that complex technical initiatives are delivered efficiently, predictably, and with high quality, while aligning cross-functional teams around shared business and product goals.

The Day-to-Day:

  • As a key facilitator of Agile practices, you will fulfill Scrum Master-like responsibilities, ensuring productive ceremonies, removing delivery bottlenecks, and optimizing team velocity to ensure predictable, high-quality releases.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements to enhance delivery predictability and team performance.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Product, Chief Architect, and Director of Engineering to ensure technical alignment and execution excellence across initiatives.
  • Design, implement, and lead the end-to-end software testing lifecycle. As the manager of Quality Assurance, you will move beyond "gatekeeping" to build a culture of baked-in quality across development, product, and documentation.
  • Set up processes, tools, and cadences for communication, project planning, project tracking and documentation, issue tracking and documentation, metrics, dashboards, and reports.
  • This role is the direct manager of the QA team and partners with the Director of Engineering to project manage & implement effective agile practices to ensure effective communication & collaboration between departments.

*This is an in-office position in either of our offices in Sandy, UT, or Columbia, MO, with opportunities for a hybrid schedule post-onboarding.

Requirements

  • A formal degree in Computer Science, Software Design, and/or other Bachelor's degree with equivalent on-the-job experience in Engineering.  
  • 5+  years of experience in software project management and leading development teams.
  • A Scrum Master certification or a PMP certification. 
  • 1+ years of QA management experience. 
  • Must have a passion for software development that drives you to give 110% on delivering an exceptional product each time. 
  • Familiar with the basic concepts of a typical IT infrastructure, like servers, storage, business applications (ERP, CRM, BI, etc.), and the role a database plays in it.

Position Preferences

  • Experience coding in C, C++, Python, Java (JDBC), and/or PHP
  • Experience working with IoT and IIoT.
  • Experience with FairCom DB, RTG, EDGE, IoT/IIoT, or competitors such as Litmus, Ignition, Influx, EnterpriseDB, MariaDB, etc.
