Job Description:
The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is seeking an experienced Software Developer to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise applications and system integrations within a secure enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will participate in all phases of the Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC) and collaborate with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams to deliver scalable and secure software solutions.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise Java/J2EE applications
  • Developing secure web services, APIs, and system integrations using Java technologies
  • Working with Oracle databases, PL/SQL, middleware, and stored procedures
  • Participating in SSDLC activities including coding, debugging, testing, deployment, and support
  • Designing and documenting technical solutions and system integrations
  • Performing code reviews, refactoring, regression testing, and performance tuning
  • Supporting application deployments, release management, and production support activities
  • Using GitLab for source code management and version control
  • Collaborating with business users, vendors, and IT teams to meet project goals and deadlines
  • Ensuring applications meet security, compliance, and architecture standards


Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience developing complex Java applications
  • 7+ years of experience with J2EE development and enterprise application frameworks
