General Purpose

Software Engineer II designs, develops, tests, and supports software solutions of moderate to high complexity. This role works independently on well-defined problems, collaborates with stakeholders and team members, and contributes to selecting and improving technologies used across the team.

Responsibilities
  • Engineering - Consistently produces reliable, maintainable, and well-tested code. Makes sound design decisions within defined problem spaces. Contributes actively to understanding and documentation.
  • Execution & Impact - Completes moderately complex or ambiguous tasks within expected timelines and scope. Communicates progress, risks, and blockers proactively. Handles oncall responsibilities and sees through to solution. Takes initiative within broader or less-defined scope. Owns features or components.
  • Collaboration - Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and team ceremonies (e.g. sprint planning, standups... etc.) with meaningful input. Supports and unblocks other engineers when possible.
  • Growth and Learning - Expands technical depth and beings developing areas of ownership. Takes on more complex and less-defined work over time. Applies feedback consistently and demonstrates measurable improvements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems or a related field; or the equivalent combination education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in business software application design, development, and implementation.
  • Experience in the industry or in an environment whose scope, size, and complexity are comparable.
  • Foundational experience building software across frontend, backend, or RESTful APIs
  • Consultative and business analysis aptitude including communication and interpersonal skills that enables understanding of client's needs, define requirements, and provide effective solutions.
  • Understanding of core computer science concepts (data structures, object-oriented design, basic algorithms and time complexity).
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.
  • Familiarity with modern development tools, frameworks, and workflows
  • Knowledge of common industry architectural patterns and in software design patterns.
  • Able to work in a zero-code-ownership environment where the team members can modify any source file at any time.
  • Knowledge of deployment topologies (ie. ensuring secure, highly available systems).
Preferences
  • Experience integrating Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) solutions within an environment with strong change and release management processes and procedures.
  • Technical knowledge with hands-on experience in Java, C# .NET, PL/SQL and other new and current computing programming languages.
  • Understanding of company's existing IT environment and of applicable company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with developer tools such as VS Code, Visual Studio, and SQL tools
  • Exposure to modern development practices (e.g., CI/CD, code automation, or AI-assisted development tools)
  • Experience working with Microsoft ecosystem tools (e.g., Teams, Excel, Word)
  • Experience with other development process methodologies such as Agile, Lean, Scrum or others.
  • Experience integrating large disconnected enterprise-class systems in a robust, fault-tolerant manner consistent with industry standards.
